The SubGenius Hour of Slack Podcast
The Church of the SubGenius Weekly Radio Ministry

The grandsons were here and Rev. Stang had so much fun counting his blessings that he totally lost count of his jobs. What are the holidays without Slack and reruns? Sappy, nostalgia-provoking reruns on TV are what Christmas is all about, right? Plus, it gives us a break. This is the hoary old annual traditional Xmas Re-Rerun of #867 (and 921 and 1026, 1077, 1129, 1236, 1338, 1497, 1549, 1602, etc.), which was itself a condensation of some ancient year's 3-show "Best of Xmas Sickness" compilation, which were themselves the concentrated best-of from 15 years' worth of previous Xmas SubGenius and other Xmas weirdo collections, going back to the show's beginning in 1985 at KNON, Dallas. Includes over 66 separate tracks/songs/bits! And no, not one bit has been changed in all these years. Now that's Slack!

This is Hour of Slack number 450, rerun from July of t"1994" when the show was only nine years old and still being produced in Dallas. We were between radio stations then, so we relied more on clips from other SubGeniusly radio shows like Puzzling Evidence in San Francisco and ESO Swamp Radio Brain Rot Theater in Cleveland on WCSB, and also on cassette tapes that were mailed in. It was the days before the Internet, and people spent more time on things like making tapes and mailing them around. People also read and wrote books in those days, and this episode reflects all that. We have PuzEv, Drs. 4 "Bob" pretending to invent the Church, Lonesome Cowboy Dave's rant-sterpiece, "Corruptigating Worms"; Stang reads from Donna Kossey's book KOOKS regarding Nation of Islam, and we hear strange music from Slouch, The Merkins, Lonesome Cowboy Dave and Captain Beefheart.

A pretty crazy episode. Clearly confusing directions! Stang reads from our next publishing event, the novel EYELASH by Nikolai Kingsley. The Rainmakers, classics x 3. The history of Xists inventing Yetis, Yetis inventing humans, Why hide the edge of the Flat Earth? Where SubGeniuses come from. The Conspiracy destroyed Earth, switched with Mars - now we'll finish the job from a distance, seen in VR. "I don't care if I'm in the Matrix." Dave on THEY LIVE. Sell the Sonic BM buzz to Devo! People related by name. Repenting on the deathbed. That's how they destroyed Earth the first time! Emergentiles gone evil. THE CHURCH OF THE SENIOR SUBGENIUS.  Internet-only bonus: Stang and his two grandsons hunt "Bob" in the Lost Cave.

The incredible rabble-rousing live devival rant "WHAT IF...?" by Papa Joe Mama highlights this episode and possibly this century. Believer-bashing rock songs by The Rainmakers and The Rudy Schwartz Project do too. We hear the opening installment of the third episode of Time for the Show, a scrum-influenced prodcast from, in this case, Faux/Chewley/Peas. The 1984 version of Mark Mothersbaugh weighs in on Dobbs Sex and SubGenius philosophy. Then there's the rest of the show, recorded at Stang Ranch with Lonesome Cowboy Dave calling in, but since we just got our copy of Horizon Zero Dawn today, we're going to keep this blurb short. There's some talk about about the Orgozmonic Chamber of "Bob" and Grampires, and Stang is divisive. There is an unusually long and rambling post-Show Internet-only conversation that stretches the Internet version out to 90 minutes.

First live show from Stang Ranch! Well, they're prerecorded, but we do then at 9 pm Sundays just like at the station in Cleveland, and we strive to PRETEND it's live so that we don't have to do much editing. The discussions veers all over SubGenius Creation but the theme to which we keep returning is the timely one of sexual harassment by old rich fat men. A couple of Church secrets are even revealed! Two songs by The Rainmakers from the 1996 album SKIN are remarkably pertinent this particular month: "Different Rub" and "Good Sons and Daughters. The first 10 minutes however is solid Rudy Schwartz Project from a remastered version of their classic album DON'T GET CHARRED, GET PUFFY.

Half of show is from Hour of Slack #40 from 1986 with G. Gordon Gordon, Ivan Stang, and background music by DK Jones, Mark Mothersbaugh, and Onan Canobite. Interspersed with that hardy and informative classic fossil are Prairie Squid related songs by Champion Jack Codini, songs and rants from Stang/Wei/ESO Radio and devival collaborations, a litle KPFA squiditidy, plus everything on Napster with the word "squid" in the title.

We managed to stay on Show schedule through our move from Ohio to Texas, but the strenuous unpacking process was what finally got the best of us and put us behind by a week. We're catching up with reruns, this one being a great example of the Hours of Slack from the early 2000s that relied on plenty of ESO Swamp Radio (WCSB Cleveland by host Chas Smith, with Ivan Stang and Lonesome Cowboy Dave) and The Puzzling Evidence Show on KPFA Berkeley by host Puzzling Evidence and cohosts Dr. Hal and Dr. Philo Drummond. We had a lot more fresh collages coming in via Usenet in those days too, in this case by Rev. nu-monet and Jupiter Research. This episode features some clips from the Stang sermon with ESO live back-up at Winterstar Symposium, and the ESO song "Wilderness of "Bob"" performed live there. Winterstar was a smaller, indoor version of Starwood held by A.C.E. of Cleveland and it elicited great gut blowout. It ended because the excellent rural Ohio everything-goes resort folded. Today there is an annual Winterstar Ball held at The Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland until another anything-goes winter indoor resort can be found in Northern Ohio. If it happens we'll be there!

This one's a Radio Synaesthesia show without Dr. Sinister, with Stang at the controls, Princess Wei and Dr. Hal (with yet another new song!) in the studio, and the Lonesome Cowboy on the phone, recorded July 9 "2017." Many Church secrets are revealed including the history of SubGenius transgender weddings. Pretty much everything important is discussed, followed by discussions of everything else. Hopefully we will have Tarzan's Radio Station fully cranked up next week.

Dr. Sinister Post-X-Day Radio Synaesthesia Show with Dr. Hal, StangDoe, Dave

Live at WCSB 2017-7-9

We are at Stang Ranch and Tarzan's Radio Station is set up, but we're still unpacking everything ELSE and have to change our address on EVERYTHING. The new address for SubGenius Foundation is Box 807 Glen Rose Texas 76043.We saved a Radio Synaesthesia show that hasn't been on Hour of Slack for this week, recorded at WCSB on July 9 of the so-called 2017, right after X-Day Drill #20. Dr. Sinister kept Princess Wei, Rev. Stang, and Dr. Hal, in the station for an extra two hours, and Lonesome Cowboy Dave called in. This is the first hour.

Stang credits Mayan Ruins, plugs Starwood, describes how it's mated with X-Day. Church of All Worlds and goat-unicorns. Why a goat? origin and result: Rev. Magdalen can't have SubGenius stuff in New York. New York state judges; Texas lawyers can sleep in court. Lonesome Cowboy Dave calls in. Sold 6 copies of Neighborworld. Dave's colon and convergent evolution. Dave tells tale of Sinister as stand-up comic. X-Day Drill and the awful new revelations. Hal's new song "TAKE UP THE SLACK"! New X-Day revelations. The movie people filmed Onan's new song and a whole bunch of other stuff - much filmed already. Obstructionists in the Church. Brought huge dog to X-Day Drill. Dammett and the cat who made him her little bitch. The mysteries of Wisteria - monsters, insects, spiders.  The disgusting pond scum. Wisteria as a strip mine that was rehabilitated. The terrible derecho weather disaster of 4 X-Days ago -- no power in Ohio EXCEPT Wisteria. Horrible weather in Arizona. Fossil fish of Ohio. Monsters of Ohio. New caller "Nightwing" confused re: turtles. Wei's ageless newt. Stang's video "FIG - The Newt That Time Forgot" - microorganism movie "Micro Monsters" on revstang YouTube channel. Philo wants ads for Roku. The SubGenius video archives -- Stang's new chore. Hoping to film more SubG old-timers. Robert Crumb and the Church. SubG celebs. David Byrne and the Puzzling Evidence scene in True Stories. Goat Yoga on Stang Ranch. Dave was a refugee from Middle East. Goat meat restaurants. Goat-killin'and skinnin'. World might end tomorrow but probably go to Starwood instead. Dave on Trotsky and Lenin. Why "Bob" Dobbs stopped showing up at Devivals. When Dr. Sinister saw "Bob" get hit by a bus. "Bob's" both the mouth and anus of the Universe! Dr. Sinister breaks and does credits.

We start with a rant and the song "Reckoning Day" by THE RAINMAKERS recorded June 2nd 2017 at Knuckleheads Garage. We made it to Stang Ranch Texas, intact with ALL OUR STUFF, the entire Church of the SubGenius main media archive and Slack Altar elements, after a truly strenuous and taxing house move. We're still unpacking, but basically the huge move is over and we can emit this new-like Hour of Slack #1645, maybe a little late. It was recorded September 17, "2017," on Dr. Sinister's show on WCSB Cleveland, Radio Synaesthesia, which follows Hour of Slack there on Sunday nights. We stuck around the station for two hours, and Lonesome Cowboy Dave called in.

RED ALERT! The Kickstarter effort for the documentary about the Church ends in five days and it's all or nothing! It's raised $130,000 but needs one last mighty push to reach the goal! Even if you're stone cold broke yourself, TELL EVERYONE!

Last live show at WCSB until next summer; we're MOVING! This episode attacks the ins and outs of packing and prepping massive SubGenius media archives for transportation across 1000 miles of Pink territory in a disguised "moving van." We also discuss the documentary movie in progress, SLACKING TOWARDS BETHLEHEM, and urge all listeners to check out the Kickstarter page and trailer. Also: The Rainmakers cover Devo, The Swinging Love Corpses, and more of them kind pils.

It's all about dogs. There's some great Swinging Love Corpses, The Rainmakers, and The Psycho Skeletons in this, and a sermon by Rev. deFalk, but mostly it's a tribute to our late, great SubGenius hound dog, Dammett, who boarded the Saucers at age 12 on Sept. 29, or St. Dammett / Bite the Mailman Day. (Thanks to Rev. Guimo for that idea.) We also ALMOST reveal MASSIVE Church secrets, and discuss the SubGenius Yard Sale which had ended just before this show started, but the best parts are about having and losing a great dog pal... our little boy, old as he was. The highlight is a recording of Dammett howl-dueling with a pack of coyotes in the dead of night.

OH, and the BIG MYSTERY SECRET we were hinting at can now be told: bit.ly/SlackOn

This show is from two weeks ago. We didn’t do a live show this week because, well, our old hound dog and co-host Dammett suddenly decided to board the saucers early and we had to say goodbye to him. He is with Pappy now and we are looking for a Treeing Walker Coonhound puppy.

Welcome to the Swingin' Shed! If we can't whup it, we'll go down - but we'll go down swinging. Stang springs The Good Rev. Roger's excruciating END TIMES FINAL EXAM on the gang, which includes Dr. Sinister this time! There's also a horrible goat pun tribute to Dr. Dark, and a goodly stretch of Thorazine Urine Podcrust from last X-Day Drill, with Dr. Argus Faux, Rev. Danny Shoggoth, and Rev. Peas. Music is by Drs. for Wotan, Dr. Bizarro and the Disgustos (two killer anthems!), The Rainmakers, and The Psycho Skeletons.

Dr. Sinister's Synesthesiamobile got rear-ended and he couldn't make it to the WCSB station, so we filled in for him with an EXTRA Hour of Slack! Played some old but rebooted Dr. Bizarro and the Disgustos (recently remixed on CD), some Amino Acids from 20X-Day, some Faux-band, and a rare recording of Lenny Bruce doing a live show at a club, spiced up by a heckler. The middle of the show has Lonesome Cowboy Dave and studio hosts StangDoe expounding about, among other things, the pros and cons of expounderment, and the hazards of chicken bone shards vis-a-vis dog throats. Stang reads the orgy scene from Neighborworld.

Also, Stang reads some Stang and Nenslo on God from The Bobliographon. SPOILER WARNING re: Neil Stephenson's "SEVENEVES."

Doe, and Lonesome Cowboy Dave, broadcast from WCSB Cleveland on Sunday night, Sept. 3, "2017." Dave was especially off the hook, mental mash-up-wise. Everything was covered thoroughly. Live 2017-08-27

Music includes very old (The Monkees, Glassmadness, Dr. G. Gordon Gordon and Drs. for Extreme Prejudice) and very new (Dr. Faux and the Right Angles, Xposed 4Heads, and two songs from a 2014 album by The Rainmakers that was new to us but uncannily timely. Then it gets talky, with a discussion about the Western Jackelope from Stang Ranch followed by some Thorazine Urine Podcrust from 20X-Day (Peas, Faux, Shoggoth in this case), and finally the Lonesome Cowboy calls the station.

Dave's centrifuge of spittle versus The Elite. Who ARE the Elite? Fox News being the most mainstream and elite. Dave's slippery, soapy problems with connective tissue of the topic of discussion. The Air Force can induce a near-death OOB experience just by putting pilots in a centrifuge! Neighborworld is about to be on sale! The Salton Sea and the SubGenius in Mexicali or Calexico. Dave's cousin Fornicato. Dave's novel Neighborworld about to be published; excerpt. A mouse gnaws on Dave's phone line. Stang's job and the SubGenius documentary. Hurricane Harvey versus Obama's flood regulations (removed by Trump 2 weeks prior). Crazy greed-mongerers like "Bob." Wei's new word: EXTEMPORADIO. Podcrust of 20X-Day. The Texas studio, where gravity is higher.

This episode features both the Ask Dr. Hal Show from the 20X-Day Drill and a lot of music both old and new -- and a Rainmakers album, "Monster Movie," which was done some years ago but is new to us. The show opens with a great Rainmakers song about conspiracy kooks, "Who's At the Wheel," followed by "The Dallas Cowboys, Jesus and Me" (classic Rudy Schwartz Project). Dr. Argus Faux and The Right Angles perform his song about the Church, "SubGenius," and after some Ask Dr. Hal we hear another "new" Rainmakers song, "Monster Movie." Xposed 4Heads follow more Dr. Hal asking with "Push Me." After the last Hal answers we hear live instrumentals - The Right Angles from a Florida show and a medley by The Amino Acids recorded at 20X-Day. The show closes with yet another original new SubGenius song, "No Slack, No Hope" by Rev. Loveland of Artificial Telepathy. Also included is a recording of Rev. Stang's last minute warning about the Eclipse and possible dangers from a test of The Beacon, from a live broadcast the day before.

One of our best friends died last Friday and this episode is about him. The sick humorist, master heckler and Great Badfilm archivist has taken his puns to “Bob” and “shot through,” as the late Pappy Stang put it. It was not exactly unexpected, and Dr. Dark was extremely well prepared, but we got the news just a few hours before this broadcast and were just starting to get shaken up. Such things take a while to sink in. We tried to pick some music he would like so there is some classic Rudy Schwartz Project in this show as well as an inspiring opening song by Xposed 4Heads. The background music is from classic Universal monster movies. Stang also reads an excellent rant by The Good Reverend Roger about staying weird, often an uphill battle. There is some philosophizing about death and the meaning of life, talk of an afterlife, etc., but mainly it’s three old folks remembering and celebrating an old friend. He was quite a character, to put it mildly. He is the only SubGenius besides Rev. Stang who was at every single X-Day Drill from 1996 to 2016, and was with Rev. Stang every single July 5 7 a.m. He is sorely missed although we are hoping for some Heckling from Beyond. If anybody could pull that off it would be Dr. Dark.

A week after the world failed to end on X-Day, it tried to at least reboot a week later in the form of Starwood Festival, an all-purpose mind-blower started in 1980. Rev. Ivan Stang takes his annual Starwood sermon very seriously. (The SubGeniuses of X-day Drills are hecklers and would ruin the recording, whereas the pagans are polite and often strangely respectful.) The polite Rev. Stang has been holding back on saying certain things about our current governmental situation for months, because he wanted to be able to say them to real live people, right in their faces. He considers this rant to have been a failure, because afterwards no one came up and punched him in the nose.

A fine short burst of madness from Dr. Cozmac is followed by a brand new Dr. Hal song! Then for about 15 the conversation from 20X-Day Drill between Dr. Hal and Rev. Mother Miller continues. (We're saving some of that for later.) The second half of the episode is the uncut recording of Rev. Stang preaching a somewhat impromptu sermon at Starwood 2017 in the Pufferdome, a huge inflatable dome with strange acoustic qualities. Mayan Ruins provided musical accompaniment and Waking Dream filled the dome with projections, but you can't see those on the radio. The Pufferdome rant was meant to be timely and also the tease for the longer Starwood Main Stage sermon the next day, which we will play next week before we get back to the dozens of hours recorded at 20X-Day with a cast of at least ten. This episode ends with a song about dogs by The Rainmakers, from a late 2016 live performance -- because part of Stang's Pufferdome rant includes the story of Dammett the hound dog's travails during Starwood and X-Day.

Recorded at 20X-Day Drill (second day) with Dr. Hal, Rev. Susie the Floozie, Rev. Mother Doctor Miller, and Rev. Ivan Stang, and it’s all talk. However there is a nice glimpse of behind-the-scenes excitement at the campground setting, as Stang is informed of a SubGenius Kook interloper trying to invade the event, gets a bit steamed up about it, and has to leave Tarzan’s Radio Station in the hands of his co-hosts, who are unfamiliar with it. (Notice that it is Mother Miller who figures out the “ON” button.) While there is some good spontaneous ranting, much of this particular episode involves Church of the SubGenius “real-life” history and gossip, and the sex lives of lizards. NOTE: As the 20X-Day week proceeded, the old-timers like Dr. Hal and Stang did less and less at Tarzan’s, while younger podcrusters did more and more, which you will be hearing on future shows in abundance.

Starts with a classic audio collage and fabulous rant by Rev. Susie the Floozie from "Bob's" Slack Time Funhouse in the distant past, and it is GREAT! Philosophical recording of Prof. Chas Smith on his show ESO, awaiting X-Day. Stang and Chas to Bleepo on rerun plans for the decimated planet. NHGH will return the tapes he took when we forgot to push "record".  Stang's old "EotW" pop song collage. REM, Quicksilver, Mojo Nixon, Sublime,   Hendrix, GWAR, etc. TITLES - Hal and Stang start in, talking about X-Day and their personal Escape Planets. We can bring back to life all extinct creatures and plants. You can have your own unicorn… albeit not as you expected. Billy-Unicorns and virgins. Elasmotherium. Lancelot the Unicorn - Morning Glory and Oberon, Stang's old buddies. Oberon has similar job description to Stang - Church of All Worlds. The Water-Sharing ceremony at Brushwood. At Starwood Stang hangs out out with rival cult leaders he once made fun of. Wiccan history. Much of pop culture came from the 1920s. Hal on recording his new songs. Burning of Ikon tonight by Cosmac and Faux. Emergentiles - drew up plans! Science is illegal! All-Science High. We could make smoke bombs here. Wasp attractant. Stang loves bugs and he lets them fly around his face and camera. Stang's Arkansas tick. Pete Goldie and bedbugs. Emboldened by the Trump administration. Grab ya by the *PUSSY*. Part of American discourse -- CoSG prepped us for world where political discourse is now internet flame wars. The contingent that suggests we're condoning sexism and etc. - bears somehow now symbolize all political male evil. New headphone for third bun - "Bob" can do Number Three. Teeters LaVerge. "I'VE GOT A TUB OF PILLS FOR DR. LEGUME!" Stents in all the old SubGs. Esquivel background music. Brother Cleve Dunkan co-composed music with Esquivel on his deathbed. Stang saw Esquivel's old tapes. Rev. Bleepo is working with The Firesign Theatre. Ray Harryhausen and "Bob." Stang's Invicta dinosaur series toys - Hayward and Harryhausen - fall-out between Harryhausen and Hayward. Ray And Diana Harryhausen almost bought Aleister Crowley's house but freaked out. But into UFOs. Predestination and Harryhausen, Sufis. Spray me with some Quantum Foam. We need an escape clause. This isn't the only universe. The SubG rockathon, the frug, and the frog!  Stang's problem with time travel and planetary movement through space. "How do you think I got here, Past-Man?" "The Sacrifice Game" is the title Stang couldn't remember of a book about time-travel through consciousness transfer. ABRUPT END!

At the 20X-Day festival, which sadly turned out to be only a 22nd X-Day Drill, Dr. K'taden Legume and Rev. Ivan Stang revealed, and then attempted to actually USE, a recently-unearthed invention by J.R. "Bob" Dobbs himself-- a bizarre hybrid human-alien device/homunculus intended for use in directly communicating with the Xists themselves! The deeply disturbing story behind the device's assembly -- which involved Dr. Legume exhuming a corpse, and worse -- is first told to the crowd of astounded SubGeniuses by Legume. Then Stang, "feeling lucky," chose to volunteer himself as a channel or vessel for the device's initial possibly-sacrificial activation. The results, heard on recordings here, are controversial to say the very least. Indeed they threaten to tear the Church apart! Rev. Stang literally died briefly then returned to this plane to blurt out what MAY be an "ALTERNATE X-DAY PROPHECY" involving new dates and times!… but with the year maddeningly left unspecified! In this episode, guests Dr. Hal and Lonesome Cowboy Dave help Wei and Stang in trying to decipher the meaning of the event. Reasonable explanation was made immeasurably more difficult by an (if anything) even more frustrating translation by Rev. Sinphalimus Exmortis of yet another message, a series of numbers and sentences in English encoded algorithmically within a burst of noise that accompanied the "device's" activation. Thanks to an early release of the unedited recordings (this broadcast version being much truncated and devulgarized), already various SubGenius groups have jumped to conclusions and schismed into competing "denominations," such as the "MAY DIE-ISTS" and the "DIDJU LIE?-ists," the "Seventh Day Destructionists" and the "Fifths of Planetary Overdose-ists." We Elders and Hierarchites of The SubGenius Foundation, Inc., strongly advise SubGeniuses NOT to cling to simplistic conclusions but to remember that "Bob" plays in mysterious ways, to quote the late St. Stymie Debergerac. We are personally tending toward a "WHY NOT BOTH" approach, although that is probably anathema to those pitiful creatures, the SubGenius Fundamentalists. Listeners are urged to view the photographs and videos of the devices and the blueprint at the various usual Members-Only Internet forums.
EXTREMELY IMPORTANT NOTE: This show includes new songs by Dr. Hal ("I AM A SUBGENIUS") and by Dr. Faux ("Track 02")!

Recorded July 2 at Wisteria Event Center during the 20X-Day Drill. This is compiled from three video and audio recorder sources according to which source was most audible, but it is otherwise uncut and uncensored. We share this strange and unsettling revelation in the hopes that concerted research efforts will help make clear to us which of so many paths to take... if any. Whether one accepts this recorded evidence at face value, and how one interprets it, it very obviously up to the individual. Once again, Dobbs has provided no obvious and indisputable answer, but only a much deeper question.

This marks the first time we have ever posted a show online immediately after recording/broadcasting it WITHOUT LISTENING TO IT. At this posting, Dr. Hal and Rev. Ivan Stang recorded this show three hours earlier at Wisteria Event Center in Southern Ohio using Tarzan's Radio Station, The SubGenius Foundation's compact 3-mic, 2-cd sound mixing and recording system (made from stolen electronics parts, rubber bands, glue and snot). As always, it worked well on a picnic table on the stage of Caffeina's, the semi-outdoor cafe at this fine campground. The weather was a little hot, low 80s, but breezy enough, and the background video projections looked clear and colorful in contrast with sunlight glowing faintly through the huge hand-made Vinyl Dobbshead that we hung next to the impromptu recording studio. For the on-air blabbermouths, if not listeners necessarily, it was a relatively laid-back show rich in Slack.

The world ends tomorrow and you MAY die! We were too busy to mess with a live show, packing the iVan for our final trip to the Wisteria campground to meet the Men from Planet X, so we just played an old mysterious CD labeled "MISC. X-DAY" that turned out to be GREAT! It has about thirty tracks, many of which are themselves composed of thirty tracks. About twenty minutes of it was edited long ago by Pater Nostril, interweaving a sermon by Dr. K'taden Legume with Inadvertent Bulldada of all kinds. See you on the Saucers.

Rev. Stang unexpectedly had to fill in for Dr. Sinister, whose show Radio Synaesthesia usually follows Hour of Slack on WCSB-Cleveland. Failing to grok the station's new "wav cart" machine, Stang made up a Public Service Announcement off the top of his head on a subject with which he's had experience, heart attacks. Playing the score for "Lucifer Rising" in the background, Stang read long stretches from Lonesome Cowboy Dave's novel "Neighborworld" and an even longer stretch from "The Bobliographon" about why suicide is probably a bad idea. Then Stang played some of his own favorite music, just like a regular college radio DJ: "Auld Land Syne" done by Jimi Hendrix at the Filmore East; ESO's version of "Sounds of Silence;" Elvis Costello's "Goon Squad;" "Luck Be a Lady" from Guys and Dolls; "Battle of the Roses" by The Rainmakers, Captain Beefheart's "Trust Us," and finally Herb Alpert doing "Zorba the Greek"! Just like a REAL radio show! Also, we completely forgot to post this episode last week. It was a busy week.

Two really old classic Zappa songs, one new each by The Rudy Schwartz Project, Xposed 4Heads and Phat ManDee, then it's the Dave and Stang yak-off until the show closes with "Iodine 131" by Dave. X-Day is discussed in excruciating detail, and some secrets emerge about the SubGenius documentary project. Sarcastic comments about the coup inexplicably creep into the otherwise straightforward conversation. Straightforward I tell you.

That's our favorite quote by Rev. Argus Faux, who is not in this show! It starts with new music by The Rudy Schwartz Project, Xposed 4Heads, The Psycho Skeletons and Rev. Jimmy Ryan, with two very early Mothers of Invention classics. Then it's live Show with Lonesome Cowboy Dave calling in. We will admit that one thing that makes this episode different from most is that Rev. Stang was a bit tipsy, having come to the show from a memorial service that went a little longer and involved a bit more wine than Rev. Stang is used to. In fact it's the first time in decades that Stang has done a show while under the influence of anything! Dave claimed he thought Stang was unusually lively and organized, but that was an illusion.

Live 5-28-2017; first time back at WCSB in seven months. Every orgasmic scream is a prayer to Connie! Finally having a President to hate again! These are the subjects of tonight's in-depth, incisive coverage of yesterday and tomorrow's events -- TODAY! It's Time Control all the way down, with opening world premiere (or not) songs and wrecks by The Mothers of Invention, Xposed 4Heads, The Rudy Schwartz Project, The "PsySkels," Rev. Bern Brijis, and Lonesome Cowboy Dave's NEW SONG, "Dasvidaniya, Comrade Trump"! Stang also reads the rant-letter "DEAR HUMANS" from The Good Reverend Roger. Then the lines are open and not only does Dave call in, but also Princess Wei and Dammett the SubGenius Wonder Hound! This was an episode of many firsts, including Dr. Sinister taking the place of Wei in the studio due to weather and canine autism. This episode allows a sneak peeks at numerous SubGenius formerly secret projects.

One of the more insane episodes, in terms of straight out bizarritude. We might recommend headphones and towels for this one. It is possible that you could be hurt mentally by the stereobrainsplitter effects. Heavy on the Lemur, Puzzling Evidence and ESO, there's also an IMPROVED mix of John Trubee's "A Blind Man's Penis," Bongwater, Steven Hawking reading Revelation X out-takes, and much more more. We hadn't heard this since 2003 and as we listened we stared at each other with our jaws hanging open. Weirder than usual, and it's NEVER "usual."

We returned to Ohio but are leaving again immediately for some work in California, so here's a rerun, #889 from May 2003 -- one of those dense old SubGenius shows with interwoven Puzzling Evidence and ESO radio, brain-ripping collages by LeMur and others. There's also DEVO as DOVE, Bill Hicks on Waco, the ATF and David Koresh from a bootleg, and music by DJ John K, Steve Earle and Rev. Cobblestone. The theme is "Back to "Bob."

This total barrage show from February, 2003, #879, has 50 tracks on the CD, and each track probably contains a dozen tracks mixed together. Very Old School SubGenius Media Barrage! -- but also with lots of choice ESO Swamp Radio from WCSB and Puzzlind Evidence from KPFA. Keeping it all apart are dozens of collages by the great LeMur. The general theme is general sex, Conspiracy and SubGenius. Includes a great Fat Harry White song, Heart Ignition, The Jellyeaters, and The Amino Acids.

We're back in NEIGHBORWORLD! Stang does some read-ranting from Dr. Onan Canobite's new book OVO 21 - TERMINALIA, and from Lonesome Cowboy Dave's novel NEIGHBORWORLD (with the Cowboy himself engaged by phone!). But first there is music, all new, by XPosed 4Heads, Rev. Bern Brijis, and The Rudy Schwartz Project. Following an obituary for Doug Smith, Lonesome Cowboy Dave joins Princess Wei and Rev. Stang at Stang Ranch for conversation ranging from the lofty to the base on subjects both pertinent and impertinent.

Once a year, at Starwood Festival, people actually pay to (among other things) watch Rev. Ivan Stang preach nonstop for a whole hour. This episode is that hour, from July 16. SubGenius Sermons include: SubG 101. I Gave Tim Leary Drugs. God Keeps Taking the Wiseacres. The Monsters of Wisteria. Starwood Tour Guide - The Mandela Effect. Finding Slack in Dirt. The Most Powerful Drug - Moral Outrage. Trump and Stupid Person Pride. A Meat Space Kind of Guy. When Psychics Have Car Wrecks. Reading The Good Rev. Roger's GODZILLA rant. Audience Q&Q: Are We Nut Men? What Do UFOs Really Look Like? Connie Vs. Trump. What is the Question? Walkers for Trump. The Camera Drone is Not a Demon But J.R. "Bob" Dobbs might be.

Opens with "Slack It" by XPosed 4Heads - astounding! From their new album. Then new music by The Psycvho Skeletons and The Rudy Schwartz Project. But then Lonesome Cowboy Dave calls in, or vice versa, and Oh, what a party! Some shocking and controversial subject6s are covered in depth, such as Dave's new novel NEIGHBORWORLD being published by the new SubGenius Foundation press; Stang's theories about the Russian hackers' "BBC-BBW" Internet porno propaganda intrusions exacerbating racism; The Easter Snake; ruins of Atlantis found all over Stang Ranch; children and the Illuminati; taxes and chiggers, how they interact; the beehive next to our faces; and the exact uses of The Acid Bath.

A good old-fashioned Hour of Slack rerun from 1986 -- heavy on early Puzzling Evidence show with Dr. Hal, LIES and Gary G'broagfran, Drs. 4 "Bob," Brother Cleve Dunkan, a guest appearance by Robert Anton Wilson, and what would have been a really irritating barrage of movie sound effects had I not majorly shortened those sections for this rerun. The hour is filled out by some of the very earliest SubGenius audio, MEDIA BARRAGE #4 - "The End of the World" from 1980.

SUPER TAWDRY, REPELLENT, TRUMPY AND FILTHY! The Rudy Schwartz Project's new album is out, and that was all the excuse we needed to make another unbroadcastable episode! Between the brand new RSP cuts, we also hear raw and bold recordings from some other musicians and doktors -- tracks of prurient interest that have accumulated since our last Internet-Only Special. St. Andru the Impaled sings two songs from 19X-Day, "Fuck It" and the end of "Saucer Built for Twelve." There are hideous and wonderful collages of insane preachers mashed with cool music, by Rev. Joe Jeziorski, Rev80 and Dr. Clovis Hoof & Shane Steddum, and depraved actual songs by Pilgrim Speakeasy and Rev. Bern Brijis. We even dare to play the classic "Dancin' With a Hard-On" by The Swingin' Love Corpses! Rev. Watt deFalk and Lemur throw in, and the show ends with a long uncut rug of "Bob" Dobbs quotes assembled by Rev. Experimental, Please. NOTE: You seriously don't want kids overhearing any of this episode. NOT EVEN IF THEY ARE SUBGENIUSES!

Oh, CRAP! The scribe forgot to type up a paragraph-long blurb loosely describing what’s in this show! DAMN! And none of us remember. We’re sure as hell not gonna listen back to the show AGAIN, either. It has some music, but not much, we remember that much, and it has Lonesome Cowboy Dave, and Stang and Doe all going on and on about something something Church of the SubGenius. It was recorded Sunday night March 26, when everybody should have been in bed because we all had to get up early on Monday. Darn this stupid old show.

This is a fun one with new rants, new music, old Lemurian collages and one very funny classic from "1998": Stang's short stint as a guest on Bob Larson's evangelical Christian radio show. Stang also reads a killer rant by Rev. Roger NA, "I Have No Ass and I Must Shit," and that's followed by a very inspiring song from Xposed 4Heads' upcoming album, "Push Me." Then, a live (if incomplete) recording of Rev. Baby Bear's clever new "SubG 101" sermon, delivered at The Winterstar Ball in February, an instrumental by Robert Are, and Rev. Watt de Falk as Satan taking a call. Back at 19X-Day, Stang and Dr. Hal unveiled the new "Bob" Balls board game and describe the contents of the game box (and the CD that comes with it!). We rerun The Rudy Schwartz Project's pre-election Trump song, some excellent collage work by LeMur, and Dr. Hal recites a grisly poem about a child eaten by a lion. A recent composition by The Psycho Skeletons closes the show, although the Internet version has an extra 3 minutes of Stang exhorting the listeners to get real and "man up."

Plenty got recorded there, but not by us! There’s a documentary about the Church in the works. Meanwhile. here’s a rerun of hoary old show #897 from July, 2003. It’s not exactly Old School SubGenius, but Middle School certainly, with much classic LeMur collages, ESO Swamp Radio and Puzzling Evidence Show, plus some Bill Hicks and Weird Al along with original SubGenius music and ranting.

Special guests this episode are Rev. Ivan Stang's two grandsons, Age 6 and Age 8 (the Sons of Sivet!), recorded at Tarzan's Radio Station, improvising a suspenseful radio play about a monster hunt in which the monster is "Bob" himself! Interspersed are seriously bulldadized "Old-Gulag" Lemur-style Classic Collages, by Lemur, and a historical dissertation by Stang about the cranks, crackpots, charlatans, psuedo-scientists and fellow cult leaders of Glen Rose, Texas (new alternate home of The SubGenius Foundation HQ). Hour of Slack #1608 - St. Joe Riley's Bulldada Barrage

This is a truly old-school classic rerun, with intensive high-speed bulldada mostly from St. Joe Riley's "Bulldada Barrage" of 1992 and a KPFA Puzzling Evidence Show (KPFA Berkeley) from March, 1988 featuring Wellman, Howll, and G'Broagfran, with Stang guesting, with calls to (not from) Dr. Philo Drummond, Papa Joe Mama and Pope Sternodox Keckhaver. Joe Riley's collage editing (aka media barrage) was ASTOUNDING, as heard throughout this rerun from the olden days. His video collages were even better and his show THE HYPNOTIC EYE can be seen on the ROKU channel OSI-74 in the SubGenius section (and YouTube). Also heard are the ranters of Church of New Faith, a Father Joe Mama sermon, lots of Jim Jones, OBE, and The Three Stooges.

Hour of Slack #1607 - "I Was a Cultist for the ATF"

Papa Joe Mama's 1998 SubGenius radio play "I Was a Cultist for the ATF" is but one of several short radio plays in this rerun from 2003. We also get "SubGenius Sci Fi" by The Bishop and the classic "High School Madness" by The Firesign Theatre from their album "Don't Crush That Dwarf, Hand Me the Pliers." Oddly, all of these old skits seem remarkably pertinent to this week's news events despite being such ancient parables about authoritarianism in THE CONSPIRACY. Lonesome Cowboy Dave and the late Chas Smith are heard in some great clips from ESO Swamp Radio (WCSB) and there are loads of keen Lemur Collages -- plus, Radio Lemuria, which has nothing to do with Lemur but features a fine rant by Rev. Lemuel Atom. Music cuts include Rev. Mojo Nixon and Rev. The Amino Acids!

The new Secretary of Hate's comments and "alternative facts." Ladies' March inaugural discrepancies and old fake news about what constitutes reality. Transporntainment, infotainment and Dave's novel NEIGHBORWORLD. "Info" and "scan" as suffixes, prefixes. The Winterstar Ball with Rev. Baby Bear preaching on Feb 12 at Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland. The old Winterstar site sold to some cult. Stang's scary certified letter from tax man wanting proof of "agricultural use" for Dokstok Mountain. How to qualify for "AG USE"? Butterfly sanctuary? Raise meerkats, lemurs, tree sloths? Stang's Roach Farm! "Bob's" prophecy re: roach steaks in 2000, broomsticks in the ass fad. Could make cheap broomsticks from cedars. Need to somehow have farm on 5 acres. Ant farm? Pet rock farm? SKULL FARMING! Roadside attraction "Destructionist Museum" and the excavations of our devil, alien, and cave SubGenius fossil skeletons. Man Eating Chicken and post-post-literate travelers. The SubGenius Abusement Park in Glen Rose Texas. Make the Yankee tourists sign the waiver and then we farm their skulls. The drones record it all anyway. Get Legume to do the Cave Bear Mating Dance of the Cave SubGenius wearing our bear skins for the roadside attraction. Get CULT EXEMPTION? But we have no minions. Stang speculates re: right wing conspiracy against SubGenius in town. But this is a low grade cult. President Howard Hughes. TrumpStop convenience stores/privately-owned prisons in poor neighborhoods, intellectual places. "Terrorists" who reverse the words on TrumpStop signs. Indian tribal militia and blue corn and President Hughes. The billionaire Presidents: Rothschild, Rockefeller, Morgan, Vanderbilt, Ford. Pinkertons and Wells Fargo and Penny Dreadful. The Hessians and Prussians. Mug of coffee in the Tarzan Radio Station. Don't replace it or you'll die. Pus thermometers. The Atlas of Sexual Depravity. Obsequeate the sebaceous glands. Listen to 'em listening! "If it crawls it bites, if it grows it sticks." Goat heads. Great Lakes baby hill made of solid Ontario quartz crystal near Kirtland Ohio - Dave will use it to mind control the region for evil. "Grab 'em by the country." "Shut the front door!" Regime change hasn't changed small-town Texas -- except all my tax bills suddenly doubled. Must farm Dobbsheads or Pipes -- Pipe Farm details. Pipe seeds, growing Pipes fornicating under the full moon. Medical Jalapeno farm. Conspiracy wants the property. Waylon Nelson song about Glen Rose. Stang's ex-wife raises bees and organized a Womens March in Beaumont! Everybody's ex-wife was heroic. Possible violence at women's marches? TOPLESS women's marches? Dave's last hair. Topless is legal in the frozen north. Sex is something you do with a hired person in a motel room. We're in the Black Hole and time is passing much faster outside. Hour of Slack #1604 - Lost Rants Found!

We're still unearthing mystery clips of ranting and music from the hours and hours 19X-Day recordings, and two newly excavated rants are mounted here -- one by Rev. Argus Faux and one by Rev. Nuggett, both ranting their lungs out over music by The FukPs (in this case Rev. Angry Larry, Lord Rock God and Rev. Sinphaltimus Exmortis). Another rant, the excellent "Special Snowflakes" by The Good Rev. Roger, is read by Stang at 19X-Day. The rest is straight WCSB-style Stang-Doe-Dave spouting, but recorded at Stang Ranch insteada of WCSB. There we discussed the dangers of brains and knowledge in a Trumpian America, which is also illustrated in the song by The Attery Squash, "DEVO Was Right About Everything." The difference between scrum and crunt is further delineated. "We all fetch the stick when the big man throws it."
