A little of everything! Sermon clips from Starwood Festival and Baltimore Devival 2008, interview clips from Right Where You Are Sitting Now, a ton of primo Puzzling Evidence Show, collages by LeMur, Pref, and McGee; antique music of the deep past; and much skulking and sneaking around in Stang's office by mischievous Philo Drummond, Dr. Hal, and Puzzling Evidence. (Posted 2 weeks early - last show until 2009.)
Thu, 18 December 2008
This episode covers all the main basic themes of the Church: "Bob," Slack, The Conspiracy, and World Blowout. Lots of Norel Pref collage helps ventilate dense sermon clips from Starwood Festival and radio banter from Puzzling Evidence with Philo Drummond and Dr. Hal. We start scavenging some interview material from an excellent British podcast, Right Where You Are Sitting Now, and we welcome work by new collagist Rev. Sweetness McGee.
NOTE: We are posting this episode and #1185 early, because we'll be vacationing during the holidays and don't want to mess with big uploads then. This will carry us through to the end of December in weekly shows.

Mon, 15 December 2008
This is the annual traditional Xmas Re-Rerun of #867 (& 921 and 1026 & 1077), which was itself a condensation of the previous year's 3-show "Best of Xmas Sickness" compilation, which were themselves the concentrated best-of from 15 years' worth of previous Xmas SubGenius and other Xmas weirdo collections.
Mon, 8 December 2008
Mostly live from WCSB Cleveland, with Lonesome Cowboy Dave joining Rev. Stang and Princess Wei by phone. Not recommended for the infirm, the very old or the very young. An amazing new sarcastic Christmas song by The Attery Squash is premiered, along with several other bites out of the fresh Xmas apple by LeMur, SODDI, Rev. Norel Pref, Puzzling Evidence, and Synaesthesia. The Obituaries become a regular feature on the show, as everyone ages inexorably.
Wed, 3 December 2008
This one's heavy on the Puzzling Evidence-Dr.Hal-Philo show excerpts, and they're exemplary excerpts. Papa Joe Mama's classic "Last Chance" rant proves that he knew the results of the 2008 election back in 1996. We also hear the openings of the Stangian sermons from the most recent Starwood Festival and Baltimore devivals. Most of the music comes from Girl Talk, making this an unusually illegal episode! There are even some last dangling remnants from the XI-X-Day stage and radio recordings, from Brushwood as well as WCSB's Radio Synaesthesia.

This is one of the greatest Hours of Slack ever, and it's not even an Hour of Slack. It's Rev. Susie the Floozy's incredible Episode # 740 of "Bob's" Slacktime Funhouse from WREK in Atlanta, Georgia, and it's truly one of the most amazing media barrage-style collages we have ever had the orgozmonic psychotronic pleasure to hear. Praise Rev. Susie the Floozy, and the 101 sources from whence she drew. It makes losing everything worth it.
Wed, 19 November 2008
In the Hour of Slack studio, as we acquire new music and clips, we categorize them into various folders according to general subject matter: "Bob," sex, war, etc. This month, the folder of sound files concerned with drugs filled up. This episode, then, is composed of material that either deals with the dangers of drug abuse (especially in outer space), or else makes you feel like you are on drugs and wish you could come down. LeMur, Dr. Hal, the Joker, Radio Synaesthesia, Priestess Pisces, The Psycho Skeletons, Girl Talk, and especially the band Ogo Dys help out.
Tue, 11 November 2008
It's a pledge drive show! -- a real one, originally done for WCSB in Cleveland, but we have jiggled and edited the specific phone numbers, pledge premiums and station I.D.s so that ANY station could use this for fund-raising purposes. Aside from a little LeMurian collage, some Girl Talk and "Faith healer" by ESO, it's nonstop all-out full-tilt gut-blowout frenzy on the parts of Lonesome Cowboy Dave and Rev. Stang as they dredge up every possible begging and wheedling ploy in the book, including dozens that no RESPECTABLE religious broadcast would ever consider.
Mon, 3 November 2008
Rev. Ivan Stang, Lonesome Cowboy Dave and Princess Wei R. Doe break in the new WCSB studio with a live pre-election show featuring "The Interrogation of Mister Listless," bold surrealism, a slew of LeMur political cure-alls and some amazing music by Girl Talk and Marvelkind. Since most of our listeners will hear this after the election, we had to pretend that the election had already happened.
Fri, 31 October 2008
A rerun of the wizened old Hour of Slack #100, an unusually good oldie featuring classic Puzzling Evidence, Michael Peppe's rant called AD, a big ol' mess of Brother Cleve, Swinging Erudites and Iron Liver, our first lady radio preacher Sister Krys, and the UNFINISHED, uncut, temporary soundtrack for the subgenius video, ARISE!
Wed, 22 October 2008
This episode is mostly music, especially the great songs of Bob Walkenhorst, and also new songs by Rev. Robin Renee and Rev. Max Slack. Sex and love among the gorillas and demons is the "theme;" Dr. Hal and Rev. Stang read the confessions of the audience at 11X-Day. Robert Anton Wilson spouts on conspiracies in government, and fresh collage from Norel Pref and Fernandinande LeMur dress the stage
Wed, 15 October 2008
The week we were producing this show, the stock market plunged about 10,000 points. We danced in the streets and spent money like it was going out of style. (Evidently it is.) Includes a brand new Bleepo mix, news songs by The Psycho Skeletons and Rev. Max Slack, and a recording of Senator John McTaint's appearance on the Ask Dr. Hal show in Berkeley, with his wife Sindy. Also, much Radio Synaesthesia and 11X-Day live show clips with Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Dr. Hal, Rev. Susie the Floozy, Priestess Pisces, Rev. Stang. AND all the great Lemur and Preffish collages.
Wed, 8 October 2008
Music and rants recorded at DEVOtional 2007 and 2008, and Mongoloidapalooza '07, are interspersed with truly amazing covers of classic DEVO songs taken from the annual compilation, "Not Necessarily Beautiful but Mutated." The close relationship of DEVO and The Church of the SubGenius becomes all too hideously clear. Also includes original songs by The Attery Squash and The Mutant Mountain Boys. Photos and video of these events can be seen at:

Wed, 1 October 2008
Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Princess Wei and Rev. Ivan Stang pollute the clean air of Cleveland from the WCSB studio. New music by Rev. Max Slack as well as Bob Walkenhorst, a ton of old Einstein's Secret Orchestra, a Phineas Narco mash-up starring Hitler, and the soaring arfulness of Fernandinande LeMur's sound-chopper add their own special taints.
Wed, 24 September 2008
Priestess Pisces and Rev. Susie the Floozie dominate Dr. Hal, Rev. Stang and Lonesome Cowboy Dave (real intercourse, recorded live at 11X-Day Drill) in between collages by F. LeMur, Dr. Phineas Narco and N. Pref. Robert Anton Wilson discusses tomkookery among conspiracy buffs. Songs by Bob Walkenhorst and Gary G'Bruagfran heat up the show and help prevent cramps.
Thu, 18 September 2008
Live recordings from X-Day, PUNKtuated with DEVO covers from the latest annual DEVOtional collection, "Not Necessarily Beautiful but Mutated." Yakkers on the Brushwood live Hour of Slack stage include Dr. Hal, Priestess Pisces, Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Rev. Ivan Stang and Rev. Susie the Floozy. Robert Anton Wilson speaks at length from the album "RAW Explains Everything." Also, some classic Rainmakers, good for any election year. Phineas Narco, Fernandinande LeMur, and Norel Pref do everything else!
Wed, 10 September 2008
This Hour of Slack is mostly Dr. Hal, Rev. Susie the Floozy, Priestess Pisces and Lonesome Cowboy Dave, with Rev. Stang, recorded at the Brushwood stage before a live audience on July 5, 2008. Interspersions include new music by Max Slack and Mose Giganticus, old music by ESO, and collages by Mister F. LeMur and Norel Pref.
Wed, 3 September 2008
Recorded at the Brushwood stage before a live audience on July 5, 2008, this Hour of Slack is, by popular demand, almost entirely the learned banter of Dr. Hal and Lonesome Cowboy Dave, with only smatterings of Rev. Stang, Princess Wei, Mister F. LeMur and Norel Pref. We do however get to hear two complete classic songs from the late Chas Smith's band, Einstein's Secret Orchestra.
Mon, 18 August 2008
Mostly live in the WCSB studio with Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Rev. Stang and Princess Wei -- our first live show in weeks. Much stored-up gas is released. Topics include The Bigfoot Corpse, SubGenius Funerals, Prehistoric Dave Men and Dave Women, The Pyramid of Dobbs, upcoming events. Rev. Norel Pref's collages are abused, as are those by that cut-up Fernandinande LeMur. New music by Mose Giganticus, The Flyin' Ryan Brothers, The Psycho Skeletons.
Thu, 14 August 2008
Music by Fat Free, The Versificators and Max Slack, and brainshifting cut-ups by Norel Pref and Mister LeMur, punctuate an otherwise live 'Hour of Slack' from the 11X-Day Drill stage at Brushwood, performed before an audience on July 4, 2008. Dr. Hal and Rev. Ivan Stang answer many questions about J.R. "Bob" Dobbs and his Great Plan. Dr. Hal goes into some detail about the tampions used by bears to keep ants out of their butts during hibernation.
Sat, 9 August 2008
A truly live episode, performed before an audience on stage at Brushwood on the first day of X-Day Drill 11 (7-3-08). Cohosts Rev. Ivan Stang and Dr. Hal Robins address the most pertinent issues of our times, such as the fecundity of "Bob." Nonstop-talking Big Heads are interrupted only by short bouts of LeMuristic audio collagery.
Sun, 3 August 2008
In this densely edited episode we follow post X-Day narration from Dr. Hal, Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Rev/Princess StangDoe, Priestess Pisces, Dr. Sinister and callers (including THE AMINO ACIDS' Rev. Angry Larry!), intercut with actual live recordings from the X-Day event. A new song by The Attery Squash opens the show. Clips from 11X-Day stage recordings include The Amino Acids, Pisces rants, and some Chickenhed-tainted dawn awaiting-the-saucers moments.
Sun, 3 August 2008
Dr. Hal and Lonesome Cowboy Dave join Dr. Sinister, Rev. Ivan Stang and beloved callers for a pre-report on the 11X-Day gathering, wherein SubGeniuses from near and far awaited the coming of the alien overlords who will save us all under "Bob." New collages by LeMur punctuate the show, and we are proud to premiere new music from The Attery Squash and Rev. Max Slack.
Fri, 18 July 2008
Recordings from the annual SubGenius festival X-Day are bound together by Dr. Hal and Lonesome Cowboy Dave, guest starring on a post-event Radio Synaesthesia. Features the perverse Baptism of the Dead, lead by Dr. Legume, and part of a great live Amino Acids show along with snippets from several other main X-Day events.
Mon, 14 July 2008
Rev. Susie the Floozy is responsible for this extremely complex production, which was first broadcast on her show "Bob's" Slacktime Funhouse from WREK-Atlanta on 6-28-08. This is certainly the most intense X-Day-inspired editing yet produced by any SubGenius, and it seems somehow appropriate that it was incubated only a few days before the end of the world.
Mon, 30 June 2008
We're taking off for X-Day and leaving you with several "advance" shows to remember us by.
Several new musical entrancees help enyoungify an episode which also features some really old classic tracks from ancient, not very classy SubGenius Doktors. Music by The Large, Negativland, and Cuttlefish, and calls from Priestess Pisces and Rocknar, enliven old zombies LC Dave, Puzzling Evidence, Dr. Hal, Phineas Narco, Dr. Sinister and the late Prof. Chas. Collagery by Norel and LeMur space out the proceedings.
Wed, 25 June 2008
Rev. Susie the Floozy's amazing Conspiracy Special, originally heard on WREK-Atlanta's "Bob's" Slacktime FunHouse, comprises most of this episode, unless we are silenced by that selfsame Conspiracy halfway through. It is presaged by a tossed cross-section of classic Puzzling Evidence and new Radio Synaesthesia, and sprinkled on top with LeMur and Norel Pref collages.
Fri, 20 June 2008
This is really Rev. Susie the Floozy's astounding DISEASE Special, "Bob's" Slacktime Funhouse Episode #720, a gigantic collage about anthrax and other wonders of warfare, originally broadcast on WREK in Atlanta. The world is about to end, and when that happens we at Hour of Slack take the Path of Least Resistance, which in this case is to rerun this great Flooze mastresspiece.
Fri, 13 June 2008
We finally got around to using up the Norel Pref clips on Scientologism and Moneyism, and a great call-in Synesthesia show featuring the medical adventures of Priestess Pisces. X-Day is coming...
Fri, 6 June 2008
A live show with Lonesome Cowboy Dave and Princess Wei extemporaniizing with Rev. Stang, who reads from various alt.slack papers comparing the Church to Scientology and Rev. Stang to Hitler. Songlages by The Opponent Process and Rev. Shayne Caplain join the noises of Mister Fernandinande LeMur and Rev. Norel Pref.
Fri, 30 May 2008
Just your average all-round sex-obsessed collection from all SubGenius radio and Internet outlets. Includes the full 'transporntainment' rant from Winterstar 2008 by Rev. Bleepo Abernathy, and an unusually naughty spread with Norel Pref showing "Pink."
Fri, 23 May 2008
During the many SubGenius radio shows on various stations recently, we reminisced about old times and the most horrifying moments of the real-life SubGenius adventure. We saved those bits for this show, which ties in with Stang's SubGenius History / Cult Management online course at Maybe Logic Academy (maybelogic.net). Ironically, brand new mindfuckery ends the show.
Fri, 16 May 2008
Mostly improvisational religious trance spouting, live in the studio with Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Princess Wei 'R.' Doe and Rev. Ivan Stang, punctuated by collages and PSAs from LeMur, Pref and a possible "Bob" recording found by iDRMRSR. Just John background music is abused, Stang reads Unclaimed Mysteries, Wei reads part of a new Onan Canobite pamphlet, Superior Mutants. The majority of this particular episode is completely insane -- and yet it won new converts while it was first being aired. Go figure.
Fri, 9 May 2008
Our friend Onan Canobite turned us on to this Australian Mystery Band, TISM, and so they're splattered all over the show. Also, an unusual number of collages pulled from movie soundtracks. Priestess Pisces, Lonesome Cowboy Dave and others guest on Radio Synaesthesia clips, and everybody indulges their Divine Hate-Squared.
Sat, 3 May 2008
This was an especially good episode from early 1987, with early Puzzling Evidence (with LIES!), Nenslo, DK Jones, Brother Cleve, Sister Krys, The Swinging Love Corpses, Dr. Hal, Don Trubey, Ken Nordine, and Stang's "Bitter Money Sermon"
Sun, 27 April 2008

Excerpts from Puzzling Evidence (KPFA) and John Hell's Pirate Cat show, San Francisco; Rick Barber's KOA-Denver AM talk show; Stang's sermon at Winterstar Symposium, and Radio Synaesthesia (WCSB Cleveland). New songs by The Attery Squash and Doctor Steel. Plan 9 Vs. The Mist.
Thu, 17 April 2008
A live broadcast from WCSB Cleveland, in which Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Rev. Stang and Princess Wei attempt to adjust moment-by-moment to the Rural War Room background music. The subject matter is primarily sex, sexual issues, and fluids that issue from "Bob." A rare 1929 SubGenius recording is played. Deluxe extra texture by LeMur, Norel Pref.
Sat, 12 April 2008
God, Jesus, "Bob," Crowley, Satan, and upcoming events, from Puzzling Evidence (KPFA) and John Hell's Pirate Cat show, San Francisco, and Stang at Winterstar Symposium. Also: Lemur noises, Noam Chomsky and Norel Pref sounds, climaxing in the next-to-last recording by the late Prof. Chas Smith.
Thu, 3 April 2008
All on the subjects of health, coffee and jenkem, from Puzzling Evidence (KPFA) and John Hell's Pirate Cat show, San Francisco, and Radio Synesthesia (WCSB Cleveland); Stang reads from THE BOOK OF THE SUBGENIUS at Winterstar Symposium. Also: dopest and dopiest Lemur noises and Norel Pref sounds.
Wed, 26 March 2008
Taken from various devivals and radio shows from recent months -- Puzzling Evidence (KPFA) and John Hell's Pirate Cat show, San Francisco; Stang's sermon at Winterstar Symposium, and Radio Synesthesia (WCSB Cleveland). 2 songs by The Rainmakers including a rarity, and a new song by The Bishop (aka The Sicker Vicar).
Thu, 20 March 2008
Peppered with Lemur and Pref collages, but mostly live this time in the WCSB studio. Rev. Stang, Lonesome Cowboy Dave and Princess Wei 'R' Doe cover pretty much everything, Subjects include recent mind-impregnating movies, the Mystery of the Chopped Off Feet, the killings of "Bob," and the listener.
Mon, 17 March 2008

Taken from various devivals and radio shows from recent months -- Puzzling Evidence (KPFA) and John Hell's Pirate Cat show, San Francisco; Stang's sermon at Winterstar Symposium, and Radio Synesthesia (WCSB Cleveland). 2 songs by The Rainmakers including a rarity.
Wed, 12 March 2008
We return to sheer idolatry for "Bob," taken from various devivals and radio shows from recent months' travels. Excerpts from Puzzling Evidence (KPFA) and John Hell's Pirate Cat show, San Francisco; Rick Barber's KOA-Denver AM talk show; Stang's sermon at Winterstar Symposium, and Radio Synaesthesia (WCSB Cleveland). Something new is added to the collagiasticity as well.

Mon, 25 February 2008
Recorded in Beijing, and at KNON-FM, Dallas, in 1986 upon Stang's return from 6 weeks in China. Includes much Chinese SubGenius documentary material. Guest narrator: Li Li-jing. This was just about the last show to feature Rev. Buck Naked as an Hour of Slack studio participant.
Thu, 14 February 2008
Aside from the Lemurian, Norelian, and Mose Giganticusian material, this show is rife with goodly stretches of John Hell's "Season in Hell" show, with guests Stang, Dr. Hal, Puzzling Evidence, Loid Mongoloid, K-ROB, discussing ancient Church origins in some detail.
Tue, 12 February 2008
Hour of Slack #1139 -- Bingo Gas Station Motel Cheeseburger with a Side of Aircraft Noise and You'll Be Gary Indiana
Wallowing in The Pigsty of Pure Slack, they do more than come hither and yon. A mostly-live show with much talk about Snake Women, and cuts from the great bulldada 1972 underground Biblical Western, Greaser's Palace. Hamlet included. HOT.
Thu, 7 February 2008
Much of this episode is taken from a December 2007 broadcast of John Hell's "A Season in Hell" by host John Hell. Guests were Puzzling Evidence, Dr. Hal, Rev. Ivan Stang, Loid Mongoloid. Also lots of new music and montage from Mose Giganticus, Norel Pref, F. LeMur, and Little Big Man.
Tue, 29 January 2008
Live show with much on-air preaching, plus music by amazing newly-discovered prehistoric bands like Mose Gicanticus. Lonesome Cowboy Dave calls in broken, but he is somewhat repaired during the course of the show. All attempts to introduce serious pertinent discussion about current affairs are effectively rebuffed.
Thu, 24 January 2008
We journey to Darkest San Francisco for not only the Mongoloidapalooza SubGenius/DEVOtional Devival (at 12 Galaxies club), but also John Hell's Season in Hell Show from Pirate Cat Radio and, of course, the Puzzling Evidence Show. With Philo Drummond, Dr. Hal, Puzzling Evidence, Mongoloid, Bishop Joey, Rev. Leslie, Gary G'broagfran... and Palmer Vreedeez in a great KPFA subclip from 1982.
Tue, 15 January 2008
Heavy on the artful media barrages by (respectively) LeMur and Norel Pref, specifically dealing with The Conspiracy, with new music and bits of various devivals and radio shows from the end of 2007: Puzzling Evidence radio, preaching from the Baltimore SubGenius devival, some old ESO Swamp Radio, John Hell's show with SubGeniuses, from Pirate Cat Radio in SF, and Radio Synaesthesia.
Tue, 8 January 2008
We're standing under the Overtoom, in a subterranean pirate radio basement station in Amsterdam, Holland. Dr. Hal is here, and Princess Wei, Pope Black, and Governor Rocknar, and a number of humans or SubGeniuses wearing Dobbsheads masks, making the whole scene look like some kind of warped, twisted Fellini movie. Yes, it's like living in a foreign film. Everything is there except the subtitles; and oh, how I miss the subtitles, which might explain to me what the hell is really going on here. But, of that I remain ignorant, as perhaps you too the listener. All we can do is have faith, yes faith in that FACE of JR Bob Dobbs. That endless, bedotted, half-tone -- oh, sometimes high contrast -- FACE. If we can but seize upon that as the FOCUS of our attention, our LOVE and our thoughts, perhaps we can be safely guided back to a place of COOL music, and cool speech, talking and so forth. But in the meantime, we're trapped, here in this clammy basement with the Church of the SubGenius.
Mon, 7 January 2008
First, the Puzzling Evidence Show attempts to hijack our precious Hour of Slack. Lonesome Cowboy Dave calls in to save the day, and spouts bravely amidst recordings of live sermons from Baltimore and Amsterdam devivals, and collages about the nature of The Conspiracy of the Normals as well as the various Major Lesser Conspiracies.
