Interspersed with Lemurian collages, two Onan Canobite rants read by Stang, and music by The Rudy Schwartz Project, The Slot Rods, Rev. Watt de Falk and The Psycho Skeletons, most of this is a lively conversation between Dr. Hal, Dr. Philo Drummond, Lord Angry Larry, and Rev. Ivan Stang from the second hour of the July 4, "2019" show at 22X-Day, recorded live in front of an audience. A SMALL audience, but hey. It's still live and lively. There is much discussion of Bible movies versus Bible books, especially the story of Noah's Ark. Later, Stang unfortunately attempts to preview the pop rock pot rot dog X-Day opera he and Wei have written, "BUDDY." (With apologies to Pete Townsend.) |

What are the holidays without Slack and reruns? Sappy, nostalgia-provoking reruns on TV are what Christmas is all about, right? Plus, it gives us a break. This is the hoary old annual traditional Xmas Re-Rerun of #867 (and 921 and 1026, 1077, 1129, 1236, 1338, 1497, 1549, 1602, 1654, 1705 etc.), which was itself a condensation of some ancient year's 3-show "Best of Xmas Sickness" compilation, which were themselves the concentrated best-of from 15 years' worth of previous Xmas SubGenius and other Xmas weirdo collections, going back to the show's beginning in 1985 at KNON, Dallas. Includes over 66 separate tracks/songs/bits! And no, not one bit has been changed in all these years. Now that's Slack!

This is one of those mash-ups of three very different live SubGenius shows and a bunch of weird music and nicely tortured noises. There's also an actual new 10-minute Written Stang Rant, "Sorry, Non-Boomer" (albeit only partially written by Stang), which reveals "Bob's" revised SubGenius slogans for older SubGeniuses. We premiere two GREAT new songs from The Rudy Schwartz Project, including the brainworm "Dead Nazi by the Side of the Road" as well as a new Slot Rods/Angry Larry surfpunk thrashstramental. It's the Battle of the Buzz with Lonesome Cowboy Dave calling in and making his own reality, intercut with a 22X-Day session with the Puzzling Evidence Show stalwarts, Dr. Hal and Philo Drummond (minus Puzzling Evidence himself). We also hear a strange stretch with Philo and Hal with the mysterious SubGenius called "X." Collage work by Lemur and RastaBilly Bob round out the rough edges, or perhaps roughen up the smooth edges. The performance name "M.C. Squaredance" is copyright 2019 Ivan Stang. Patent pending. A very old-school fundie doctrinal episode, since it's Dr. Philo Drummond, Dr. Hal, Rev. Ivan Stang and Rev. Angry Larry -- all ancient and revered Hierarchites, spouting sacredly at 22X-Day Drill on July 4th, in the first hour of the first show... and, there's a brand new Rudy Schwartz Project album out! Music includes three challenging songs from that, some Slot Rods alien surf punk thrash e-z listening, Jimmy Durante, Skeletons of the Psycho variety, and LeMurian antimusic. Topics attacked: pils; the ban on cotton; the visor that reveals dinosaur ghosts; fat cocks and no chicks; idiot Facebook Bobbies who can't spell "Bob"; Tube Bar Call imitations; toe jam used as butt paste; Dr. Hal jumped off a cliff for a dollar; the supervillain Irritating Grandpa, other pressing topical issues. |

The "live" part is from the third show of the second day of 22X-Day. The panel starts with Stang, Drummond and Dr. Hal, but new radio spouters Mistar Sistar and Rev. Crimsoniculous replace Stang and Drummond, creating a unique ambience even for SubGenius shows. Interspersed are collages by LeMur and music by X-Day regulars Andrew the Impaled (working with full band The Liberty Tubes) and The Slot Rods (Rev. Angry Larry), plus new pieces by Rev. Jimmy Ryan, Massive Hotdog Recall (Al Mothersbaugh et al), and The Psycho Skeletons. Slack Friday 2-for-1 Ordainment Kit SALE! GoFundMe for Lonesome Cowboy Dave: https://www.gofundme.com/gm8su-dave |

This is one of those hodge-podge episodes that was Frankensteined together from several different SubGenius shows and podcasts, with weird old-timey pop music (and one modern Al Mothersbaugh song) admixed in with LeMurian media barrages. The spouting duo of Dr. Brujaja and Overlord Anna Maul is represented (Austin, Texas); Dr. Philo Drummond, Dr. Hal and Rev. Stang lose their screens and checks at 22X-Day Drill (Deepest Ohio); StangDoe and Lonesome Phone Boy Dave have a convulute-versation via Tarzan's Radio Station (Glen Rose, Texas). Don't worry; although a lot of this was recorded in Texas, only Stang and Drummond sound that way. SubGenius Ordainment/Membership Kit -- Slack Friday Sale, 11-29 through 12-24! |

It's half a Lonecow Dave/StangDoe "live" SubGenius show from 11-17-"2019," with Dave in an especially surreal mood, and half Trump-bashing: hilariously stupid collections of our President's actual words (!), songs about the idiot monster including a Rudy Schwartz Project one right at the start, and pertinent collages, some of unknown origin, some from Puzzling Evidence. This Internet version has about five extra minutes added on, including a mash-up called "Grab 'Em By the Pussy." Hey, he said it, not us. Or, if we did, it was to make fun of Pink jerks like him. |

Peppered with LeMurian seasonings and thinned out with some very old Drs. 4 Wotan stew, this is mostly Dr. Howll, Dr. Stang, Dr. Drummond, doktoring it up at 22X-Day, second day, second show. third of July. Of these three stooges, Stang is the Moe, Philo is the Curly, and Hal is the Hal. (He doesn't really fit into that original stooge trio formula like he does in this SubGenius one.) When not ball-busting each other figuratively, subjects tackled include: How would we change X-Day, if we could? The Near-Sighted Caveman, R. Crumb, and the origins of art and religion. What scrapple is made of. Pagans vs. SubGeniuses Vs. Boy Scouts. Absurd animals as monsters in monster movies, real and suggested. The unique turds of the wombat. The conspiracy theories of an old friend. The Luck Plane, Slack and bad monster movies. Frop. |

Opens with an INCREDIBLE brand new trumpdumping song by Rev. Jimmy Ryan, "Sociopathic Liar" (lyrics are on the log at subgenius.com) and includes new rants by Uncle Onan, Rev. Watt deFalk, and Rev. Bleepo Abernathy. Other music includes Liberty Tubes, new contributor RadLab, Rev. Richard Negative, and The Slot Rods. Dr. Hal, Dr. Drummond and Rev. Stang have been doing live SubGenius radio for so long that they could do it in their sleep, and this recording from July 3, "2019," at the 22X-Day Drill, may well prove it, even though the three old pros seem to be fighting constantly and perhaps fighting sleep as well. (In fact all three are stone deaf and talking in their sleep.) Highlights include a tour of The Salton Sea and a thorough dissertation on suggested SubGenius Weird Tourist Destinations, such as the California desert shooting locations of thousands of movies, and fabulously bulldada roadside attractions -- the specialty of many cross-country California and Texas Old Radio Doktors. The biggest problem with fighting The Conspiracy is addressed fearlessly, as is what it's like to be the lone Spock on a spaceship full of Zap Brannigans. The Hunt for The Killer "Bob" Dobbs at a previous Drill is re-lived vividly. The end comes suddenly. |
Mon, 21 October 2019
Starts with cuts from Rev. Richard Negative's new album WELCOME TO DOBBS.TOWN. There's also music from John Shirley, The Slot Robs, The Swinging Love Corpses, and The Liberty Tubes, plus ear-rippers by LeMur and Rev. Watt de Falk. Interspersed are conversations between Stang, Drummond and Dr. Howll from the 22X-Day Drill (July "2019") and between Overlord Anna Maul and Dr. Brujaja. All the problems of this old world are addressed, among other trivia.

After weeks of turmoil, finishing the strenuous final evacuation of the Cleveland Slackermansion in Ohio and the panicky exodus to Stang Ranch in Texas, we were finally able to do a good old new-fashioned all-talk new show with Lonesome Cowboy Dave. In fact, that's all this episode is: one hour-long conversation (plus Internet-only end plugs and propaganda). Revelations include the Church's face-eating chimp on Prozak (Professor Yeti), what it's like to be peein' mad while standing on the third rail, the oui wee Wei wee-wee-way, and how, if you act like a jerk, you're only satirizing other jerks, so it's okay. And, seriously, our Cleveland house is officially on the market and would be a killer deal for a young family, or an old art bum, with modern electrical needs and walking distance to everything necessary. This episode is another of those legendary "lost" radio hours from the 2017 20 X-Day Drill that neither Stang nor the Robo-Stang had heard until this week. (Long sordid story.) It starts off a bit lackadaisically but after about the halfway point Dr. Argus Faux raises the ante and gets things pretty fired up. "Cast" includes Dr. Hal, Rev. Fanboy, Rev. Peas, Rev. Eggplant, Dr. Faux, and Dr, Shoggoth. Listening to this recording two years after it was recorded made old Rev. Stang very proud indeed of his future replacements. And a bit jealous. |

"What wrestling is to violence, and what pornography is to sex, The Church of the SubGenius is to religion." -- Onan. This is one of those rare episodes that proves that smart SubGeniuses actually exist, or at least SubGenii who SEEM very smart. That's because it's mostly Uncle Onan Canobite and Dr. Hal, although Stang and Rev. Fanboy have important bit parts. The discussion is much loftier than listeners might be used to. This "talk show" part was recorded in 2017 at the 22nd X-Day Drill, known as "20 X-Day." (The SubGenius Event Numbering System can be challenging to beginners and geniuses.) At the head and tail of the brainy discussion are brand new experimental (or just plain mental) earhole-kissing songs by The Liberty Tubes, Fat Little Bastard and Superhornet. |

It's StangDoe, Dr. Hal and a smattering of Philo for an entire hour! -- from 22 X-Day, second show, July 2 "2019." A bit of old Media Barrage leads to discussions of: Cornstarch and St. Ken Kesey aka Rev. Hardly Visible. Tiny Andy Warhol vs. Jim Long at the 1970 USA Film Festival. Michael Peppe's clumsiness and brilliance such as BehaviorMusic. The smell of old and new movie film. Texas climate control. Pappy's timing. Why no X-Day at Stang Ranch: copperheads, knuckleheads, Dobbsheads - but no Gila Monsters. Horny Toads! Stang's DNA test. The World is ending - moon collapsing -- the underwater ocean and "Ark" and "Waterworld." Legume stopped hating. That's what people do. When the Internet came along - became TV. "A Boy and His Dog." All we talk about is monsters. Plastic lichen pollution, valium in the water, suicidal amoebas, living dead rotifers!! Science News: a new End of the World every five minutes. The One-Hoss Shay. It's hopeless! When Stang spent that $35. Sexism in the early Church. Those born rich can afford to be stupid. Stang's ignorance about all the new sexes and the special names for each. |

We managed to get through this (probably) last truly live broadcast from WCSB without crying or even getting sappy like we did a couple of shows back. At first there's a new Liberty Tubes song, an amazing rock-n-roll mash-up by Dido (?), and ten minutes of a funny 2017 X-Day podcrust with Revs. Shoggoth, Peas and Eggplant. Then Dr. Sinister joins StangDoe and the Lonesome Cowboy for, after twenty years, one final bout of live jibber-jabber using WCSB's excellent microphones, headphones, and phone-caller audio. (Our home studio at Stang Ranch is a bit less professionally appointed.) There are some thank-yous, some reminiscing about the more freakish frequent WCSB callers, some secrets revealed, the usual sudden tangents into twisted versions of current events, science, and ancient history, killer clowns, momos, and some philosophizing from Stang regarding his recent indignities of aging and how they've slowed the final epic move of sacred SubGenius crap from Cleveland to the secure rural Texas compound (an hour from Waco! Heh!). The show ends with a recording of "SubGenius Lullaby" from Chas Smith's old ESO show on the station, which is probably a real tear-jerker for long-time listeners. |

Part Two of of an Hour of Slack/Radio Synaesthesia combo from August 25, "2019." Host Dr. Sinister, Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Rev. Ivan Stang and Princess Wei 'R.' Part One of a two-hour radio jam with Radia Synaesthesia, and our second-to-last live show from Cleveland, Ohio before we continue from Tarzan's Radio Station in Texas. First 20 minutes are uncannily timely songs from new CDs by The Slot Rods, John Shirley and The Liberty Tubes, plus some great LeMur collage and a couple of very strange rants (?) by Rev. Watt deFalk. Then the SubGenius pundits (LCD, StangDoe, and Dr. Sinister) explain everything about the end of the world and bad humanity, then go and break everything they just built. But most precious and inspiring of all is a rant by the weirdly great Dallas badfilm maker Palmer Rockey from his previously "lost" film "Love is Deep Inside" (formerly the infamous "Scarlet Love"), which has been miraculously resurrected posthumously by dedicated badfilm aficionados working at film labs. Almost the next-to-last live Hour of Slack from WCSB Cleveland, as Stang/Doe are nearing their final move to Texas; this caused Stang to become quite sentimental. Killer new or revised tunes by Liberty Tubes (St. Andrew the Impaled's "That Ain't Cool Man"), John Shirley ("Pigzipper"), and The Slot Rods ("Night of the Living Tiki") preface an unusually honest live conversation with Lonesome Caller Dave. There is a long discussion about the late Rudy Ray Moore and other heroes of yore. Order Lonesome Cowboy Dave's novel NEIGHBORWORLD and/or THE BOOK OF THE SUBGENIUS |

Great new unheard music in the first half and an unusually energetic talk tantrum in the last half. Liberty Tubes, John Shirley, Little Fyodor, The Slot Rods, 100,000 Leagues Under My Nutsack. Stang is all apped up, "luming" on "apps" and reverting into a pathetically apologetic Social Justice Puppy. Just disgusting. Lonesome Cowboy Dave makes his own confessions. All most unseemly. |

Interspersed with classic collages about X-Day by Rev. Susie the Floozie, Dr. Hal, Stang, Wei, and Dr. Philo Drummond open 22X-Day with this July 2 "live" "broadcast" before an audience of up to six! Sample topics: Hal and Stang on the Planet of the Apes. The Lunch Menu at X-Day. Stang now severely allergic to Earth atmosphere. GTA with the Friction set at zero. Eating babies like at Trump rallies. The Shrieking Ghost has overdosed. THEM KIND PILS! -- pil instruction and history of Roberto de la Rosa. Rev. Fnord comes to inhale some allergies. Xists are Rupturing us one part at a time -- hair, memory, morals -- and taken some people, depleting our numbers, leaving us with THESE people: listeners! Philo coughs! Bull-busting Philo. Scary baby Jesus paintings of Europe. We have to put the cusswords back in for the Internet version. SubGenius funny names. Human fat as medicine. (Great Grandma rant by Dr. Hal!) Our clubhouse in the old fridge. Stang Vs. Drummond's drumming. The Church of the SubGenius, clear as mud. The tweet bird. Dog language. The Urgent Whines of Claudia Collage. Audience cheers when show is over! |

Once again, Radio Synaesthesia features Dr. Hal, Stang, Wei, L. C. Dave and callers to WCSB Cleveland, July 1 "2019," just before leaving for 22X-Day. But first, there's much new music and diversion, such as a new Trump song by Li'l Fyodor and Babushka (!), new Slot Rods, podcrusting SubGeniuses of 20X-Day (1917) including Peas, Shoggoth and Eggplant; new Psycho-Skel, and a fabulous heavy metal anthem called "New Freak Nation" by St. Andrew the Impaled/The Liberty Tubes. Discussion topics: Hitler on a cross. Ordering beer in China. "SubGenius figures" at Starwood 2019. Stang and Doe preview their new dog-rot-rock-pot-pop-X-Day opera "Buddy." Sausage Party. Furries. Aging SLAK Squad assassins for "Bob." Other shows confused with Hour of Slack. Hal sings "Green Acres" in a very special way. Dr. Sinister's SubGenius rant! |

Dr. Hal, Stang, Wei, L. C. Dave and callers guest on Dr. Sinister's Radio Synaesthesia on WCSB Cleveland, July 1 "2019," just before leaving for 22X-Day. It's ALL TALK,covering: Heaven, Slack for the Hole family, the National Association of Retarded Citizens (N.A.R.C.), the road to Philo's, the breasts of witches, alien contact and spraying for humans, the F. I. "B.", War in China, emojis to stangmojies, National Shames, Grant Theft Auto Go, The Aristocrats, "woke" "sheeple," peanut allergies, the wild lives of boomer kids, and the more ridiculous anti-drug PSAs of yore. First half is possibly-familiar songs sounding very new indeed, thanks to recent studio-produced CDs by Rev. Angry Larry's The Slot Rods, St. Andru the Impaled's Liberty Bell band, and Pissbaptist John Shirley. We even get to hear some of the just-unearthed ancestral recordings from 2017's 20 X-Day, with a kind of podcrust by Revs. Shoggoth, Peas and Eggplant. The rest of the episode is Wei and Stang bragging and griping to Donesome Lowboy Cave about the cool and horrible stuff that happened during the two weeks of 22X-Day and Starwood 39, such as: clowns saved the day. The tiny-headed "Bob" effigy with elephantiasis. The X-Day Pie. Brainwashed "Bob" cultists. President Vermin Supreme showed up, pony shat on stage at start of Stang's big rant. Megaphonics. Replica Oscar Meyer WeinerMobile driven by David Apocalypse, jumped three flaming cars. The Toolbox of Death. Fascist Klowns. Changing tires while changing genders. Sausage and FlapJack Fest. The Greying of the Nude SubGeniuses. Go back to England! Go back to Italy and stomp grapes! Workshop in toilet-paper launching. Triology SubGenius Soaps. Ends with a laid-back John Shirley song about a guy who is falling out of a plane to his death. Recorded June 30 at WCSB-Cleveland, just before leaving town for 22X-Day (now known as the 24th X-Day Drill), with Dr. Hal joining Ivan Stang and Princess Wei in the studio and Lonesome Cowboy Dave by phone. The show starts with ten minutes of an amazing Aliens/UFOs-themed collage made by Rev. Susie the Floozie in years past, then the on-air discussions veers through the X-Day prophecy of "Bob" Dobbs, the glories of Dave, the "Bob" masks from SIKRIK.COM, the SubGenius documentary's latest foreign film festival showings, False Christians, Jim Naborsworld and Opie's movies, Leprechauns, Stang's Paradox ("I Must Yet I Cannot"), Ro-Man quotes by Hal, Romany/Gypsy/Travelers, the market in human fat, WHY NOT GOATS?, the Church of Satan's goat-devil statue, The "Bob" Movie Posters, the Photo-"Bob" controversy, Rocknar the Cannon-Fodder Volunteer and his Happy Hooker escapade, bone spurs, Pope Perro vs. Pope Black, the discovery that Ol' Sequaw is in fact an INFANT, the earthquakes in Cleveland, and the end of the show… for now, as it continues for two more hours that night (to be heard next week(s)). |

We're still at the Wisteria campground for 22X-Day/Starwood, recording new shows, but this is an unreleased (and very WEIRD) show recorded two years ago at 20X-Day. This one features (in order of appearance): Rev. Faux, Rev. Peas, Mother Miller, Rev. Anna Maul, Rev. Shoggoth, Rev. Eggplant and finally Rev. Stang, eating the hell out of his one annual summer hamburger. |

By the time most people hear this, we will have recorded several NEW shows at WCSB and 22X-Day -- but we won't be able to edit and release those immediately, because we'll be too busy destroying everything about the Earth that we ever found mildly inconvenient, and grabbing up all the really cool stuff for ourselves. Plus, a lot of great SubGenius regulars can't be there this year, such as Rev. Susie the Floozie, Argus Faux, Uncle Dr. Onan Canobite, and Rev. Peas. BUT THEY WERE ALL THERE IN 2017 AND DID SOME GREAT SHOWS -- which haven't been heard until NOW! Because Stang just re-found them, after forgetting them in the big move to Texas that year. And it's some of the BEST STUFF! First up, we have some selections from Rev. Susie's X-Day collage barrage extravaganza from the 90s, then, Rev. Faux and Rev. Cosmac with Susie at 20 X-Day, then some more Susie collage, then about 20 minutes more from the show with Dr. Hal, Stang and Onan, some of which we played last week. |

Internet version: 68:45 Radio Version: 59:57 (lacks last two tracks) We're gearing up for X-Day by playing some great stuff that was recorded two X-Day Drills ago, in 2017, but forgotten when Stang and Wei then moved to Texas. (Lots more of that unheard footage to come, too!) This includes part of a show with Dr. Hal, Rev. Stang and Dr. Onan Canobite, and a great new "Bob" song that Onan created in the form of a sea shanty, and taught to the X-Day audience. Dave calls in and joins Stang and Wei in a long-ranging discussion about everything; Dr. Sinister joins in near the end. Also: 100,000 Leagues Under my Nutsack, Psycho Skeletons, and a really rare Bob Walkenhorst song, "Broken Radio." Second half is live WCSB studio bejabberment; Stang was excited due to reading Neal Stephenson's brand-new science fiction novel, FALL, which is partly about the Internet turning all the stupid people of Earth much, much more stupid. (And it is HIDEOUSLY plausible, especially considering the USA's last three years.) Some actual ranting happens, quite spontaneously. Last week, the mysterious Cleveland band known as 100,000 Leagues Under My Nutsack revealed themselves (himself, actually: Maxar Berezium) on Dr. Sinister's WCSB show, Radio Synaesthesia, which follows Hour of Slack on Sunday nights. Three unexpectedly PRETTY songs by are unveiled, along with some funny interview excerpts. (Stang and Wei were impressed.) Also excerpted from earlier WCSB shows is an interview about Starwood Festival with four of its organizers, extracted from the Sustainable Love Corporation show. Other new music includes a killer cut from an Al Mothersbaugh solo album, and a Rev. Jimi Ryan instrumental (a bit of a Hendrix tribute). Collages by LeMur and Rev. Silas Janzen add even more of the requisite trippiness. And then Lonesome Cowboy Dave calls in to discuss (separately) underground comix artists and the end of another short-lived Democracy fad. Thanks to Stang's expert clean-up editing, only WCSB listeners who caught this episode live will know how many technical screw-ups we suffered. They loved it. So far, Sandy Boone's feature length documentary film "J.R. "Bob" Dobbs and the Church of the SubGenius" has only been shown at three film festivals, but every showing has been very successful in terms of turnout, audience response, and SubGenius Doktor approval. EVEN PAUL MAVRIDES likes it! EVEN DOUG WELLMAN!! These are the pickiest possible audiences! Stang and Sandy Boone are greatly relieved. The San Francisco Doktors, and Sandy, attended the showing and did a Q&A with audience later. THEN, a bunch of them did a FIVE-HOUR RADIO SHOW at KPFA, encompassing both the Over the Edge slot and the Puzzling Evidence slot in the wee hours of Friday morning. We extracted all talk about the movie (and often subsequent tangents) from the first three hours, and those excerpts comprise the first half hour of this episode. Participants are Puzzling Evidence, Dr. Hal, Phineas Narco, Michael Peppe (I think), and a male and a female that are not identified. Those clips are interspersed with collages by recent new contributor Rev. Silas Janzen. The second half hour of the show is the usual standard ordinary everyday garden-variety conversation between hosts Rev. Stang and Princess Wei and Eternal Special Guest Caller Lonesome Cowboy Dave. |

Rev. Susie the Floozie, Dr. Hal, Rev. Stang and Lonesome Cowboy Dave commit real intercourse, recorded live at 11X-Day Drill, "2008," in between collages by F. LeMur, Dr. Phineas Narco and N. Pref. Robert Anton Wilson discusses tomkookery among conspiracy buffs. Songs by Bob Walkenhorst and Gary G'Broagfran heat up the show and help prevent cramps. Another Cleveland-style episode featuring that incomparable one-of-a-kind American natural resource, Lonesome Cowboy Dave. No one else on the whole planet talks even remotely like he does. He's kept in the can for the first half hour, though, which has new and old media barrages, mash-ups and insane conversational bouts from older SubGenius radio shows. Contributors (some inadvertent) include LeMur, Bill McClintock, Puzzling Evidence, Dr. Hal, ESO Swamp Radio with Chas Smith, LC Dave, Dr. Legume and Stang, The Psycho Skeletons, Sister Melodious Chops (with Princess Wei), and Pope Sternodox, with a long unpublished rant by Rev. Stang and new audio collages by Rev. Silas Janzen. The rest of the show is one of those conversations with Lonesome Cowboy Dave for which we can think of no other radio talk show comparison. Stang is back in Ohio and this is the first show produced back at WCSB-Cleveland, with Princess Wei in the studio, in almost two years! (Save one, last July.) Their microphones sure are better than the ones at Tarzan's, and the telepathic connection with Perennial Guest Star Lonesome Cowboy Dave is vastly improved by closer proximity to his lair in Ashtabula, Ohio. In this Internet version, there is some banter with outgoing DJ Brother Love, as he welcomes us back to the station, and then there's the standard completely nonstandard twenty minutes of canned but utterly new (to Stang anyway) music and Lemurian collages, plus a new "media barrage" recipe from Rev. Elvis Martini. Rev. Uncle Dr. Onan Canobite delivers a killer Brag at the beginning, and he also suggested the music: a song about Jack Parsons by The Claypool Lennon Delerium, and a Slack-centric song by Big Audio Dynamite II. At the very end are instrumentals by Jimmy Ryan and Onan. Four of the tracks in this show had the word "dog" in the file names. Sample sentences from the live discussion: "If we were sick enough to think of it as a joke, somebody else was already sick enough to actually do it." "The voices you've been hearing aren't ours." "Sign away the memories of whatever you're signing away, so you don't miss it." "Praise the Holy Goats. |

Yakkers on the Brushwood live Hour of Slack stage include Dr. Hal, Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Rev. Ivan Stang and Rev. Susie the Floozie. Robert Anton Wilson speaks at length from the album "RAW Explains Everything." Also, some classic Rainmakers, good for any election year. Phineas Narco, Fernandinande LeMur, and Norel Pref do everything else! TO DONATE TO HOUR OF SLACK: http://subgenius.com/ts/hos.html |

A killer rerun from 2004! It sorta kinda captures the madness of that week-long weirdness-fest, 7X-Day. This legendary gathering of the Saved in rural New York State was officiated by such luminaries as Dr. Philo Drummond, Colonel Sphinx Drummond, Dr. G. Gordon Gordon, Little Fyodor & Babushka, Rev. Susie the Floozie, The Swingin' Love Corpses, Popess Lilith, the young preaching prodigy Rev. Alex Thompson, and The Amino Acids; there was also a lot of great SubGenius radio commentary from Puzzling Evidence, Radio Synaesthesia and Lymph Node Institute. Most amazing is Acid Corps: the incestuous collaboration between The Swingin' Love Corpses and The Amino Acids! There's also a rare SubG song by The El Queso All-Stars about Prairie Squid, and The Planet Smashers doing "Porno Planet Orgy"! This show was assembled back when Stang's back would still let him sit at a desk for hours, editing and editing. Stang's back now insists otherwise. |

This one's pretty rant-heavy. Onan advises Rev. Funnyname, and reads from SubGenius Pamphlet #1. Rev. Stang reads from Ken's Guide to The Bible and from a Hypercube rant. Dr. Hal and Dr. Philo Drummond do "show" at the 21X-Day Drill. Music comes from Chip the Black Boy and The Psycho Skeletons. TO DONATE TO HOUR OF SLACK: http://subgenius.com/ts/hos.html

This rerun from around 1991 features some of the best from our large hoard of prank call tapes -- and not the ones everybody's heard before, like Tube Bar and Jerky Boys. These are the REAL PROs, originally compiled by our friend Lou Minatti. Many snippets of the infamous "Arnie and Barney Vs. Binny" tapes are featured, plus "Calls to Okies" and "The Drunk Preacher." Interspersed are some of the WEIRDEST tunes from some mystery collection of po'bucker music, plus the legendary "Half-Assed Drunk" by Doktorz 4 "Bob" and "My Girlfriend is a Po'Bucker" by The Swingin' Love Corpses. Some excellent spontaneous preaching by the great Dr. G. Gordon Gordon, as well as Sister Velveteen Sly, both from the second Chicago SubConvention, lend class to this otherwise classless collection; likewise some Puzzling Evidence, also with GGG and also Glassmadness. But mostly it's an orgy of lowbrow hijinks! TO DONATE TO HOUR OF SLACK: http://subgenius.com/ts/hos.html |

This is one HELL of a rerun, since much of it takes place in Hell. Much of it comes from a rip-roaring live ESO Swamp Radio show of the year 2000 or so, and it's a wonderful example of the days when Prof. Chas Smith was still alive and producing amazing improv shows. He, Rev. Stang, Princess Wei and the Lonesome Cowboy were particularly inspired on this one, and it's hard to believe none of it was scripted. We sure were FASTER back in those days... There's a subplot involving murder on the high seas, but the main story is the ongoing infinities of torture meted out to, first, Dave, and then poor Stang. One of our very favorite oldies! This one's an all chock-a-block mash-up of mash-ups. Rev. Susie the Floozie pointed us to some very novel video/audio mash-ups on YouTube, especially some by Bill McClintock -- expert combinations of popular music from disparate periods in time and styles. Smushed in between those are excerpts from fired-up SubGenius devival rants (Stang and ESO from 2000, and Pope David Meyer from 1983) and Bold Surrealist radio shows such as Puzzling Evidence, Time for the Show (with Dr. Philo Drummond guesting) and the Maul-Brujaja duo. There's also media barrages, new music by The Psycho Skeletons and Massive Hotdog Recall, and Brother Cleve "Donut" Dunkan's great Dobbs hymn, ""Bob" Is My Load (and He's Comin' Again)". All the insane-sounding collages of "Bob" Dobbs bulldada come from the great Fernandinande LeMur. Some ranting about the War on God is by Stang and Einstein's Secret Orchestra in the Pufferdome at Starwood Festival of 2000. A Puzzling Evidence clip with Dr. Hal talking about the hot link of X-Day is even older, the 1980s, and we hear Nenslo's great song "There's a Feller Down in Texas", recorded at a big devival either in Portland or Seattle, in the 1990s. But all the rest is a chat with Lonesome Cowboy Dave, covering, as usual, everything and nothing. A little new, a lot of old. SubGenius ranters of yore include Onan Canobite, Stang, ESO Swamp Radio (Chas Smith and Lonesome Cowboy Dave), Dr. Hal, Dr. Philo Drummond, Rev. Velveteen Sly and Rev. Heidi (of Psychoaccoustics on WORT-Madison), and Pope Sternodox with Drs. 4 "Bob." Lots of old Media Barrage #3 too! New jabber comes from Overlord Anna Maul with Dr. Brujaja, and Massive Hotdog Recall. |

This is one of those rare Hours of Slack that's a documentary about the making of a documentary. Actually it's a documentary about the WATCHING of a documentary about those doing the watching. Recursive! The feature documentary film about us, "J.R. "Bob" Dobbs and The Church of the SubGenius," directed by Sandy Boone, had a very enthusiastic reception from audiences and reviewers at its world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, and the SubGenius movie stars and friends had a BLAST! Sandy Boone tricked us into parading down the street holding signs and preaching loudly to the unsaved, and also into performing an impromptu mini-devival in the outdoor yard of the George Washington Carver Museum. Stang reflexively recorded those. Also this episode unveils -- get ready -- NEW REVELATIONS DIRECT FROM "BOB" HIMSELF!!! -- collected by Rev. Elvis Martini and read by Rev. Stang. Also: the beloved but suppressed SubGenius forbidden science lecture (with sound effects) by Dr. Ahmed Fishmonger about the basic sub-para-atomic particle, THE MUTRON. And: Massive Hot Dog Recall. This one's a continuation of last week's show composed of three shows, starting with Part Two of the interview about that SubGenius movie with me and Sandy Boone on Lights Camera Austin. Following that: the last 8 minutes of Dr. Philo Drummond on the Puzzling Evidence show before he left California. And then, as threatened, more of that horrible Time for the Show show, where Stang had to call in using his laptop and sketchy wifi, which made for weird drunken-sounding time lags. Also: the soundtrack of the trailer for Sandy's fancy documentary movie about the Church! Thanks to Lemur for PR news and our opening titles. Thanks to Puzzling Evidence, Time for the Show, Dr. Drummond, Sandy Boone, and, thanks to "BOB".

This episode consists of the first parts of three other shows! First up is Dr. Philo Drummond's last in-person Puzzling Evidence appearance, from June 2017 just before he moved to Dokstok Mountain. Next up is part of an Austin radio show about movies, Lights Camera Austin, with Rev. Stang and director Sandy Boone being interviewed about the SubGenius documentary movie (premiering at SXSW in March). Finally there's the beginning of a very strange Time for the Show show, with Rev. Stang calling in on a crappy Discord line from his laptop, because those hosts must have wanted Stang to sound much drunker than he actually was. HOWEVER! The show opens with a Massive Hotdog Recall sign about America's first transgender mayor, and a new sermon (or reflection rather) by Uncle Dr. Onan Canobite. Titles and Gnus by LeMur as usual. On X-Day, we'll get all our brain cells back, and our hearing, and eyesight, and maybe even our judgment. In the meantime, enjoy these Old Doktorz while they're still merely old and not yet either dead or repurposed. This is one of those OLD-old-fashioned shows with Lonesome Cowboy Dave and a few new old bands, in this case Massive Hotdog Recall and Walkenhorst, covering Cash. There's another glimpse of Philo Drummond and Rev. Bleepo Abernathy in the Hour of Slack Rest Home. All the rest of it is about the liberation of your mind… and our minds. This Hour of Slack is actually SOMEBODY ELSE'S SHOW, an hour-long interview with Dr. Philo Drummond. Last summer, our friend Rev. Snappy Twig recorded this historic interview -- historic because you hardly ever get to hear Philo without other radio doctors jumping from subject to subject, and I think it better reveals the way Dr. Drummond's minds work now, and worked when the SubGenius outreach was first being planned. Rev. Snappy Twig, under his human street name "Sean," has a podcast called "SHARE A SLICE WITH SEAN", which you can find at shareaslicepodcast.com. His web page for this episode includes over a dozen really excellent links to various other SubGenius and related websites that you might be really glad to know about. He did a great job editing this and in encouraging Philo to tell the strange but true story of how the Church grew in the late 70s and early 80s. It's a fine companion to the documentary movie about the Church that's premiering at SXSW film festival in March. TO DONATE TO HOUR OF SLACK: http://subgenius.com/ts/hos.html |

We got some new music for you. Fresh! Hip! Swingin'! Well, maybe not hip. And the musicians themselves are not especially fresh. But the songs ARE! For instance, Massive Hotdog Recall -- with a name like that, and the only trombone solos that I know of in the rock genre, how can one go wrong? (The band leader is Al Mothersbaugh, cousin to the Devonian Mothersbaughs.) We also excavated some Rainmakers/Walkenhorst that we scraped off the sides of some lesser-known Bob albums, and we're re-exposing one of the many incredible fossil pieces mixed by Kings of Feedback (aka Bill T. Miller/O.B.E.) back when SubGenius Musicians worked REALLY HARD. Rev. Ivan Stang reads some shiny, sparkling new rants from Universal Uncle Onan Canotbite and Zigmunt Figment ("Yes, Promiscua, There Is a "Bob."). Stang and Lonesome Cowboy Dave ramble around by phone for a mere 25 minutes total, sticking to important subjects like the new "Bob" rubber masks and UFOs (Unidentified Floating Objects, this time). There's even some ranting about "Bob" himself, just like in the olden days! TO DONATE TO HOUR OF SLACK: http://subgenius.com/ts/hos.html CATALOGS: http://www.subgenius.com/scatalog/mediashack.html |

It's Old Coots Night again, but this time we mix it up with music and radio theater. Rev. Priest has a very catchy new song, "I'm a SubGenius Preacher;" Morgan Gutentag has a song with a gimmick; The Psycho Skeletons have a new instrumental from Beyond; and we hear a classic Bleepo Abernathy Earworm, "On and Off the Road with "Bob." Bleepo whips out a Firesign Theatre-influenced "radio bit" he did in 1979 with The Duke of Madness, a Boston DJ at the time, and premieres a new Bleepo Earworm. Philo, Bleepo and Stang have all been doing radio literally for decades, and yet they still ramble on. We hear true tales of losing and gaining family farms to Snidely Whiplash and Jasper Johns. Philo has skeletons on his farm. Philo has new albums coming and runs potential album names by us. Church Secrets are revealed (yawn) and old survivors bemoan our younger friends who were untimely snatch'd from this Vale of Tears and Yuks. The Firesign Theatre and other weird radio theater comedy is discussed. There is a break for Dr. Onan Canobite's latest "Advice to Rev. Funnyname" epistle! Local horror hosts and kiddie show hosts are bragged on. Cripes, these three codgers might as well be sitting on a bench outside the old courthouse, whittlin', spittin', and bullshittin'. N' diddlin' chickens n' guit-fiddlin'. Lonesome Cowboy Dave called in sick, so Stang called in Doktors: Dr. Philo Drummond (co-SubFounder of the Church, OverMan First Degree), and Rev. Bleepo Abernathy, radio professional and character actor. The show starts with one ancient song by each, and then it's another of those "two old guys talking" shows, except it's three old guys with Captain Beefheart instrumentals in the background. We had technical problems at first, about one third of which is included in this edit, but then settled on a merged-call system that worked (FaceTime Audio). So we'll know what to do next time... Meanwhile this might be one of those episodes that makes some listeners yearn for more reruns from the lively barrage shows of the '90s. For those who happen to be greedy for Church Secrets and Church history, however, this one is a treasure trove. Admittedly, it's not so much a Fountain of Youth as a Fountain of Age. (Hey, there's a TITLE!) As always the episode is framed by LeMur tracks, which are somewhat like raccoon footprints, but louder and more exotic. |

From Rev. Stang's "intro" script: "Ah yes dear friends, it's rerun time and tonight's is Hour of Slack #786 from March 2001. It's never been rerun since then, and it's a really classic one from the period in the late 90s and early 2001s when Wei and I were working every week with the late great Prof. Chas Smith and Lonesome Cowboy Dave on Chas's ESO Swamp Radio show on WCSB in Cleveland, and we were doing a lot of live shows at the Euclid Tavern with their band Einstein's Secret Orchestra, which also had Bob Mozik on drums, Michelle George on electric violin and, at this one, John Petcovick on lead guitar. And so... let 'er rip." A rerun of #776 from 2001, when we were all still alive. (MOST of us still are.) With a general running theme of, well, Sex SubGenius Style, it's a mash-up of The old ESO Swamp Radio, Puzzling Evidence, and rants and music from the Winterstar devival, plus an amazing live recording from an Austin devival of the SubGenius supergroup Booger 9000 (members of the Swinging Love Corpses, The Rudy Schwartz Project, and Homicidal Briefcase) performing an amazing medley of Neil Diamond and "Dancin' With a Hard-On" by The Swinging Love Corpses. (Oops, sorry, that's "Dancing with a Heart On" for the broadcast radio audience.) Thus, the all-star old-time SubG Dinosaur cast includes (in their younger days) Dr. Philo Drummond, Colonel Sphinx Drummond, The Rudy Schwartz Project, Puzzling Evidence, Lonesome Cowboy Dave, the late Prof. Chas Smith, Rev. Ivan Stang, and more, from a time when they all talked faster than they do now. Also featured are some keen media-barrage mixes by various lords of alt.binaries.slack, such as Lemur and nu-monet. J. R. "Bob" Dobbs himself is heard briefly, albeit not in human form. CAN YOU SPOT THE SECRET CLIP? Contest winners will be announced next week. The first and last thirds of this fifth salute to the SubGenius hero and demon Dr. K'taden Legume come from Hour of Slack #467, from late 1993, with Stang reading two newspaper articles about Legume's confrontations with televangelists, in person, in Philadelphia. Then it jumps to the very last things we recorded of Dr. Legume on stage, in this case at 20 X-Day in 2017. Legume discusses chaos, of all things! Also on the panel are Dr. Onan Canobite, Dr. Hal and Rev. Stang, and it ends with the start of the Bulldada Auction. Finally, just because it was part of that old Hour of Slack #467, we take a break from Tales of Legume to hear the very strange but polished APOCALYPSE NOW - THE OPERA from Radio Shorts, some West Coast weirdos we used to trade tapes with.
