This is the fourth Dr. Legume Tribute Special Number. It starts with the last Dr. Legume recording that we made, him on a panel with Dr. Hal, Onan Canobite and Stang, at 20 X-Day in 2017, then cuts to one of the very OLDEST recordings of Dr. Legume, from Hour of Slack #467 from 1993. In the first, the most recent, he describes a blood-curdling event that he induced at Starwood Festival in 1993, and in the older recording we hear Stang's actual tape of the dreadful event --plus a rant by Dr. Legume from that same Starwood. Finally we return to the 2017 recording, in which Dr. Legume vividly tells the story of a dire and surreal road trip during the time he was first discovering "Bob" in his heart (and in even worse places). |

What are the holidays without Slack and reruns? Sappy, nostalgia-provoking reruns on TV are what Christmas is all about, right? Plus, it gives us a break. This is the hoary old annual traditional Xmas Re-Rerun of #867 (and 921 and 1026, 1077, 1129, 1236, 1338, 1497, 1549, 1602, 1654, etc.), which was itself a condensation of some ancient year's 3-show "Best of Xmas Sickness" compilation, which were themselves the concentrated best-of from 15 years' worth of previous Xmas SubGenius and other Xmas weirdo collections, going back to the show's beginning in 1985 at KNON, Dallas. Includes over 66 separate tracks/songs/bits! And no, not one bit has been changed in all these years. Now that's Slack! This third tribute show to Dr. K'taden Legume is one of those Internet-only "X-rated" shows, featuring rants that are so unsafe for work that were we to edit out the cussing and triggers, there's be almost nothing left. Begins with the original super-infamous "Rape Bear" allegory that some newly "P.C.-minded" members quit the Church over, followed by several even more brutal (and hilarious) fables and children's stories. The true stoy of Beer God Hunger Fucker, "Bob's" ill-fated chain of fast-food joints is revealed. There's much more recent ranting from the 2017 X-Day live radio shows, with Dr. Legume joined by Rev. Susie the Floozie, Rev. Faux and Rev. Peas. It's not all Legume; three profane and/or obscene songs are included, two from the lastest Rudy Schwartz Project album "Postal Code for Ham." |

We continue the homage to the late Dr. Legume with some of his classic rants from radio shows, devivals and X-Day Drills, from 1996 to 2017. Legume often guested on both Prozak Free Radio with Ed Strange and on Chas Smith's ESO Swamp Radio. Rant subjects include Butthurt Bobbies, The Planet of Broken Glass, and False Christians; at the end, he turns into a whale. In between the recordings, Stang expounds on the good Doktor and the Old Days. It's true. Dr. K'taden Legume has Boarded the Saucers. This time it's for real. His passing has left a Dr. Legume-sized hole in the fabric of the SubGenius Universe, and we're vainly trying to fill it with this tribute, replaying some of his classic sermons, rants and radio call-ins from over the last 26 years. This bonus-length Internet version features his complete, uncut 1996 World Tour devival rant in Madison, his 2002 Akron devival sermon, his amazing performance at the 2007 Baltimore show, the 2011 X-Day preaching on SubGenius Butthurt, and some very weird call-in moments from Chas Smith's old ESO Swamp Radio show on WCSB Cleveland. Almost everybody who went to X-Day Drills probably met Dr. Legume, who practically invented them. He was a truly giant figure in the real-world social part of The Church of the SubGenius as well as its doctrinal side as seen in our books and audio recordings. Classic olden-times punk SubGenius hymns and rants from the 1980s by G. Gordon Gordon, Philo Drummond, The Four-Letter Words and Rev. Ivan Stang alternate with new rambling team-ups by Lonesome Cowboy Dave & Stang, Rev. Bleepo Abernathy and Jerry, and Rev. Anna Maul and Dr. Brujaja. And Stang and Onan Canobite. After the first song, this show is mostly words. Ah, but what words! The title refers to Rev. Dr. Uncle Onan Canobite, not the Biblical "sin." Herein are two great Onan rants on basic (and yet yet all-new!) SubGenius dogma, one delivered by Onan and one read by Stang. We have songs old and new by Rev. Bleepo Abernathy and Morgan Gutentag, plenty of old-school Media Barrage, the spirited Burning of "Bob" at 21X-Day with a spontaneous chorus of Nenslo's classic hymn, "Take Me Off to Space," a review of the Netflix show Peaky Blinders by Stang, a very weird Eddie Romanov rant read by Stang, and a tribute to online trolling and its master, the late Rev. Heathen, from practitioners Rev. Anna Maul and Dr. Brujaja. Lonesome Cowboy Dave and Rev. Stang discuss who would play Dave, and who would play "Bob," in a big Hollywood SubGenius movie, and the universal but useless misunderstandings about fretting and fairness. Lots of variety in this one. Also: the Slack Friday sale is ON from now until Xistlessnessmess! This episode is heavy on the spoken word, and beautifully written! It's written largely by Rev. Dr. Uncle Onan Canobite, Rev. Eddie Romanov, Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Pappy Stang, and THE WEEK magazine's science sections. Some of this excellent writing is, however, read aloud by Rev. Stang, but luckily with lovely background music by, variously, Brian Henke and Cyberchump, which beef up both the scripted ranting and the improv Spouting. Also included are a new Rudy Schwartz Project instrumental from Hell, and ancient, seminal SubGenius classics by Inhibiting Factor, Rev. Bleepo Abernathy, and the Puzzling Evidence show. Also: details about the Ejaculope, finally released. Sorry... this is one of those episodes where we get much more REAL than usual. In what they call "real life," over the last few weeks, we SubGeniuses got some fairly good news and some horribly bad news about our brothers and sisters, and ourselves, and this episode is partly about that. Extracting any Slack at all from what came with the bad news has been quite a challenge, but, THERE IS STILL SLACK! Not much, but we still have just enough of a fingernail-hold on the edge of the cliff that we haven't fallen into the abyss quite yet, and still have the energy to whine about it all rather vocally. Rev. Onan Canobite has been spouting the PURE kinds of rants lately, and that's helping; Lonesome Cowboy Dave and Rev. Stang are still pretty old, but trying not to let on, this time. There's also some potentially helpful advice for people whose dogs just ate all their marijuana cookies, then puked them all up, and then ate the puke. And puked again. We sincerely hope that this episode isn't too much More Than You Needed to Know, but that is a possibility. |

This is a rerun from 1993 of Episode #414, when Stang got caught with his pants down without special prepared radio-ready edits, at the station KNON in Dallas... so, between music cuts, he read long stretches of the uncut, first draft version of the Hell chapter from the second SubGenius bible, Revelation X. Much of this revelatory material about the Afterlives and Beforelives was subsequently cut from the chapter for security reasons, so this is the first time that those early basic censored holy SubGenius tenets have been re-revealed in 25 years. This is an especially appropriate old show, because so many of us have been dying lately. This is ANOTHER least typical Hour of Slack ever. It was with some trepidation that we let last week's show be an hour of just one old man, Pappy Stang, talking, but it was our most popular show ever! So this week, it's an hour solid of TWO old men talking: Rev. Ivan Stang and Lonesome Cowboy Dave! We figure it'll be TWICE as popular! Topics include #MeThree, Slack, the hellish modern world, aging, Fate, "Bob," Slack, and how They're taking away our freedoms in the name of freedom. Recorded at Tarzan's on 2018-10-13. Friends, this is probably the least typical Hour of Slack ever, with no weird audio cut-ups, no Rudy Schwartz Project music, no Psycho Skeletons or Rainmakers, no Lonesome Cowboy Dave, no Stang to speak of, in fact almost no SubGenius radio babbling or ranting at all. This whole episode is one SubGenius talking: Stang's father, "Pappy." He was a colorful character, a raconteur. He worked as a labor lawyer, but he was also a skilled woodworker and a Captain in Naval Intelligence in the Navy Reserve... and a 32nd degree Mason. His job, and the Navy as well, took him all over, and in his spare time he had some adventures. He was probably around 83 years old when we recorded his true story of going out on the ice for five days with a family of Eskimos - not city Eskimos, but the kind that drive dogsleds, holler "Mush!" and slay seals and polar bears. It's a sometimes funny, sometimes blood-curdling account. GoFundMe for Lonesome Cowboy Dave: https://www.gofundme.com/gm8su-dave |

Good Lord man! It's a real mish-mash of shows, all Churchly, all different, all messed up. We hear some really insane Time for the Show and some Brujaja with Anna Maul, but it all starts and stops (after the requisite collages and cartoon music) with those old pros from the Puzzling Evidence Shows, Dr. Hal and Dr. Drummond, brought together for last summer's Stangless 23rd X-Day Drill. Collages by Lemur, Cool Hand Chris and Silas Janzen; music by The Rudy Schwartz Project and The Rainmakers with a welter of strange background musics used by the spouters and yakkers of SubGenius Podcast-Land.

This one's a continuation of last week's show... might as well be the second hour of a two-hour multi-SubGenius-Show collision involving Hour of Slack, Puzzling Evidence (albeit with Dr. Hal and Dr. WDrummond but no Puzzling), Time for the Show, SubGenius Uberwomen of Austin and Cool Hand Chris collages, Lemur cut-ups, and the requisite Rudt Schwartz Project brand new masterpiece. And, a Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band classic! This episode's also strangely more laid-back, real-life and personal than usual. But don't worry, that won't continue. SHOW COLLISION! Hour of Slack vs. Puzzling Evidence Vs. Time for the Show vs. SubGenius Uberwomen of Austin... vs. the collage loners! The cast: LeMur, Cool Hand Chris, Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Rev. Ivan Stang, Dr. Hal, Dr. Philo Drummond, Rev. Angry Larry, The Good Rev. Roger, Fidd Chewley, The peas, Dr. Argus Faux, Anna Maul, Dr. Brujaja, President Shroompecker. "What I MEANT to say, was, I’d surgically remove, lets say, the right eye of a living conscious person, but not all the way… I’d leave the optic nerve attached, albeit stretched, but gradually, and carefully, rotate and shift that right eyeball until it was pointed directly at the left eye — thus allowing the still conscious er, volunteer, to look at his own eye. These are the kinds of things I’ve THOUGHT of to do on X-Day, but from which I will refrain, because I’ll be too busy SAVING things. For that reason among others, I’m almost glad that X-Day didn’t happen in the Conspiracy 1998, because I wasn’t old and wise enough to fully appreciate that preservation is even more Slackful than vengeful destruction — as orgasmic as that may be. Anyway, that’s what I meant to say before I utterly spaced out. And now, on with the show, Hour of Slack #1,693." TO DONATE TO HOUR OF SLACK: http://subgenius.com/ts/hos.html |

A classic from March, 1991 (#275, on cassette) crossed with a 2003 WCSB show (#887) featuring some amazing off-the-cuff improvisations in song and word from a 2003 ESO Swamp Radio show (Prof. Chas Smith, Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Rev. Stang, Princess Wei). That ancient cassette also happened to have GREAT Desert Storm riffs by Puzzling Evidence, Dr. Howl, Gary G'broagfran and Papa Joe Mama. Like all that 1991 stuff, as long as Dan Quayle isn't mentioned, it's perfectly timely! The war never having ended, apparently. Reruns are not actually that easy to do, since they almost always have numerous embarrassing moments that must be replaced according to strict SubGenius rules of Hot-Swappable Prophecy. NOW IT CAN BE TOLD! (Again -- this is a rerun of #989 from 2005) Only THE HOUR OF SLACK dares to re-transmit Dr. Onan Canobite's illicit shortwave broadcasts regarding THE TRUTH about the so-called "red" planet. Also: detailed descriptions of sexual reproduction among lower life forms living under the rocks of Mars, live devival recordings, new collagiasts Sudasana and JustJohn, and we try to ascertain whether or not Wolfbait is serious-serious or just bulldada-serious. And: PR Gnus. |

Three new rants and a new short story! - albeit all read by Stang. The short story, The War Between the Futures, is by the former SubGenius formerly known as Nenslo, from his new book of children's stories. Two rants were written by Rev. Dr. Uncle Onan Canobite and by The Good Rev. Roger andf Dr. G. Gordon Gordon delivers one of his own. We also hear segments from 21X-Day with Dr. Philo Drummond, Dr. Hal, Rev. Angry Larry, Rev. Fanboy, and Rev. Feit C Taj, and from The SubGenius Uberwomen of Austin, Rev. Anna Maul and Dr. Brujaja. There's also a previously unheard X-Day song by Rev. Rock Roswell, and a new piece each by The Rudy Schwartz Project and The Psycho Skeletons. We're late with this one, but at least it's not a rerun! |
Mon, 27 August 2018
Our show producer and host Rev. Ivan Stang suffered a head injury from a t-post driver last weekend while building a fence, and he's still hallucinating, so this show is a rerun. It's a good one though, half Puzzling Evidence Show and half clips from 6X-Day (2003). (And half media barrage and and half thrash-punk music. Perpetrators besides Philo, Dr. Hal, Stang and Puzzling Evidence include a super-group composed of The Amino Acids, Einstein's Secret Orchestra, and The Swingin' Love Corpses, The Minoan Brain Eaters, NOFX, CD Truth, Rev. Nickie Deathchick, Sinpaltimus Exmortis, Zozodada; there's also a lot of Media Barrage #3 "UFOs" from 1982, including the third-ever radio talk show appearance of Stang and Drummond, on the old KFJZ George Nolan show -- with Stang's rancher brother calling in to report cattle mutilations! We're still between radio production studios, but that didn't stop The SubGenius UberWomen of Austin (Rev. Anna Maul and Dr. Brujaja) from visiting their neighborhood porn shop and reporting on it in detail. Nor can it stop Stang from calling Dr. Sinister's Radio Synaesthesia at WCSB Cleveland. Now does it affect collagists LeMur and Cool Hand Chris, or The Rudy Schwartz Project. And who'll stop The Rainmakers? Opens with a lovely discussion of lab-grown human-clone meat for purposes of cannibalism. |
Mon, 13 August 2018
This episode features the unique team-up at the 21X-Day Drill event of Dr. Hal Robins and Rev. Anna Maul, with Rev. Mother Miller, Rev. Fanboy, Dr. Philo Drummond and others, in an unbroken 40-minute SubGenius conversation that sweats pure Slack. It's bracketed by songs and media barrages from our dependable friends The Rudy Schwartz Project, Cool Hand Chris, and Bob Walkenhorst (this time with his daughter Una!). The X-Day conversation is a classic nerd-out, an orgy of classic bulldada movie and comic references. Probably won't save the world, but it just might save some poor bastard's day if only because it proves that somebody somewhere is still getting Slack. |
Wed, 8 August 2018
This is another basically Stangless show, although there is a 17-year-old Stang rant included that still works perfectly well today -- in fact, better, because what we used to envision as dark humor is now ordinary headline news. Much of this episode was recorded the second day of 21X-Day Drill, with Dr. Philo Drummond and Dr. Hal moving aside (mostly) to let younger Doktors Anna Maul, Rev. Fanboy and Rev. Feit C. Taj go at it using Tarzan's Mobile Radio Studio -- which gear is still in Ohio, whereas Stang is still having to produce these in Texas using equipment made from string, foil, snot and Scotch tape. Luckily there's also new Psycho Skeletons, Rudy Schwartz Project, and what we might call "Rainmakers Unplugged." Talk subjects include "Bob" Dobbs, the Church of the SubGenius, mutation, incontinent continents, Ripley's Believe It or Not, old food in the fridge, leaving the past behind, willful ignorance, and the fact that work is somebody else's idea. |

Why did the Men from Planet X abandon us again? Why is the Banned list longer than the Pre-Registration list? Whence comes that amazing low frequency hum, if not the sheer disappointment of the SubGeniuses? Will there ever be amnesty for the SubGenius Kooks? Should we frop more on Mount Fropmore? Why does X-Day only work for pureblood Yetis? How well do propellor-beanies really work? Why is Stang gone? These questions and more are answered by Dr. Hal, Dr. Philo Drummond, Rev. Angry Larry, Rev. Fanboy and Rev. FEIT C TAJ in an array of excerpts captured at the 21st X-Day Drill. (Technically it's actually the 23rd Drill.) Also: "Emotional Support Hamster in the Walnut Room" by The Rudy Schwartz Project, some crazy collage by Cool Hand Chris and LeMur, and a super-secret new intro by Rev. Bleepo Abernathy! |
Sat, 28 July 2018
Praise be to the SubGenius Media Mongering Imps of 21X-Day! Thanks to the recordings captured by Dr. Philo Drummond, Rev. Feit C Taj, and Rev. Fanboy, I, Stang, was able to cobble together an original show that's slightly less than a week late! It's the second hour of Dr. Hal and Dr. Philo Drummond gamely making Show happen on July 4 in front of a tiny audience, intercut with Rev. Fanboy and Rev. Feit C Taj from later (or earlier?) that same day. A day of hope, DASHED. There's also a brand new Rudy Schwartz Project song, some nice Cool Hand Chris collage, lots of LeMur, and an ending with The Rainmakers in an unusual live concert recording. |
Fri, 20 July 2018
Dr. Philo Drummond and Dr. Hal supplant Rev. Stang as masters of Tarzan's Radio Station at the 21X-Day Drill! (Stang couldn't be there but he sent the portable studio with Princess Wei.) This is the first hour of several to come with this all-new, all-old new crew cast. Rev. Anna Maul, for instance, is new, and 40 years of The Puzzling Evidence Show is DAMN OLD. But, by Gobbs, we still GOT IT! So do LeMur, The Rudy Schwartz Project, and The Rainmakers. Discussion topics include: the Iceman's johnson - Aztec Mummy's johnson - the wine press of war on Earth - thinking multidimensionally - Stang, like Moses, can't enter the Promised Land - The Luck Plane - Basil Wolverton - Living Head movies and experiments - perfused heads in Russian history. Great astronomy lecture by Dr. Hal. The need to be in The Inner Ring, which drives The Conspiracy, and much much more. |
Sun, 15 July 2018
Not a normal Hour of Slack. Due to hard Fate, Rev. Stang never made it to 21X-Day. Lots of others did, though, and some of them filled in for Stang as recording engineer of babbling weirdos at a campground. Thanks to Rev. Fanboy for hosting a show on July 4 and 5 on his own equipment, and getting the recordings to the Texas office so quickly! July 4 featured Rev. Fanboy and Rev. FEIT C TAJ; July 5 featured Rev. Anna Maul, Fanboy and new guy Rev. Y. B. Dobbs. What we have here are excerpts from the first parts of those two two-hour shows. There's also a really, really sick brand new song from The Rudy Schwartz Project's new album POSTAL CODE OF HAM, some old bulldada exploitation fake news bulldada compiled by Cool Hand Chris, and the requisite two Bob Walkenhorst/Rainmakers songs that happened to be, or seemed to be, by magic, perfectly descriptive of Rev. Stang's life that particular day. Plus LeMur News, in Washington. |

This show is being broadcast and recorded on Sunday July First, at WCSB in Cleveland, four days before Thursday, July 5, at 7 am, X-Day, when the world will end for the Normals and BEGIN for the SubGeniuses. Before Lonesome Cowboy Dave calls in we hear a brand new musical children's story by The Rudy Schwartz Project (with vocals by Stang!), some killer collages by Cool Hand Chris and Lemur, a brand new SubSong by The El Queso All-Stars, and two Walkenhorst songs. |

Rerun of #951. Puzzling Evidence show from KPFA, 7-9-04 has Dr. Hal and Philo Drummond reporting on their 7X-Day adventures... from this skeleton we hung documentary recordings from 7X-Day. Some audio is from the StangCam and other is from Pater Nostril's soundboard. Clips from the 7X-Day shows at WREK Atlanta's "Bob's Slacktime Funhouse" with The Lymph Node Institute and Rev. This has never happened before! 21 X-Day is almost here, yet we're still trying to use up the recordings from last year's 20X-Day Drill. Editing time is at a premium these days, it seems. Is there such a thing as "too much Slack"? Perhaps... meanwhile, we have these precious recordings of the last moments before LAST year's dismal failure of a complete planetary overhaul. In the last hours before 7 am July 5, "2017," Rev. Anna Maul used Tarzan's Radio Station at Wisteria Campground to loudly await the saucers with guests Rev. Peas and then Rev. Fanboy. (This being the FIRST hour; we used Time Control to play the SECOND hour PREVIOUSLY!) Interspersed are songs and media barrages you have never heard, by bands and barragists that you HAVE heard almost every show for the last year or two, if you listen much. I.e. The Rainmakers, The Rudy Schwartz Project, The Psycho Skeletons, Cool Hand Chris, and the famous Fernandinande LeMur. We also feature a new song by Rev. Casey Wing. |
Tue, 5 June 2018
This one is a "normal" 2018-style Hour of Slack (HA HA) recorded "live" at Stang Ranch with Lonesome Cowboy Dave calling in. It also has your normal songs by The Rudy Schwartz Project and Bob Walkenhorst, your normal audio collages that Cool Hand Chris sent in, your normal LeMur cuts, and Stang reading a rant by somebody younger (in this case, Rev. Eddie Romanov). In the live part, Dr. G. Gordon Gordon reviews Dave's novel "Neighborworld" and Stang reviews John Shirley's excellent (and opposite!) books "The Other End" (an enlightened and inspirational answer to the Left Behind series) and "In Extremis" (an anthology of his sickest short stories). Also: The coming civil war and The Good Old Days; time machine problems; deadly vermin of Stang Ranch; and the story of "Bob" Dobbs vs. the chem toilets. |

This episode of The Hour of Slack is a rerun, but a MYSTERIOUS one. Our friend St. David Bachner has gone to the trouble of digitizing almost all of the first 1,100 Hours of Slack, transfering them from cassette tape to MP3, and making them freely downloadable on his website. We have been inspecting the logs of the downloads and noticed a couple of very strange things. Firstly, a suprising number of old shows are being downloaded by people in Russia and China. Secondly, while most of the old shows have been downloaded by an average of from 200 to 400 people, ONE of them has been downloaded almost 20,000 times! Our new shows get an average of like 3,000 downloads a month or so, but this one old show has been downloaded 20,000 times! We looked it up to see what was so special about it. It's Hour of Slack #863 from the year 2002, titled "TIME MADNESS," and it has some great stuff on it, but... damn if I know why this show out of all our 1200-odd shows has been copied by 20,000 people. Maybe YOU, dear listener, can figure it out. Please let us know, if you do. |

ROBERT ANTON WILSON RANTED HIS ASS OFF ABOUT "BOB" IN 1991 AND HERE'S THE RECORDING! I guess we sort of forgot that this ever happened, it was so great. I, Stang have been assigned to do a few catch-up interviews for The SubGenius Documentary, and I just got back from Portugal with tonight's riveting interview with Dr. G. Gordon Gordon, Assassin for Dobbs. Here at Stang Ranch in Texas, I also interviewed the astounding Rev. Anna Maul about her SubGenius career, AND we have recordings of her "Countdown to X-Day" show last July 5 from midnight to 7 am. The Rudy Schwartz Project makes a rare guest appearance, as does Bob Walkenhorst of The Rainmakers and the elusive The Psycho Skeletons. |

It's TIME FOR THE SHOW! Not this show, but the TIME FOR THE SHOW show! After about 35 years of Hour of Slack, The Puzzling Evidence Show, and "Bob's" Slack Time Funhouse, and National Cynical Radio, and Radio Synesthesia, there are now NEW SubGenius shows by people who are only in their 30s and 40s and 50s instead of their 60s and 70s! -- of which TIME FOR THE SHOW is the oldest, clocking in at SEVENTEEN WEEKLY EPISODES so far! In fact, because I Stang am leaving for Portugal tomorrow to shoot Dr. G. Gordon Gordon for letting "Bob" get shot, I'm just gonna save myself some rushed editing, and play the first HALF of that 2-hour 17th podcast episode. So say hello to Argus, Fidd and Peas, those smart-alecky highjinx-committing scalawags, whose cusswords I'll have to cut for the broadcast version. |

It's a Puzzling Slack Sandwich, made with Hour of Slack Regular Bread on the top and bottom, but with a creamy nougat center of Puzzling Evidence. Ingredients: Puzzling Evidence, Gary G'Broagfran, Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Eohippus Lovechild, Princess Wei, Ivan Stang, The Rudy Schwartz Project, The Psycho Skeletons, Jimmy Ryan, LeMur, and the collages of Cool Hand Chris. |

SHOW CRASH!The Puzzling Evidence Show physically crashed into The Hour of Slack! To make matters even more severe, it was the OLDEST version of The Puzzling Evidence Show, because it included Dr. Gary G'Broagfran! It happened because an airplane carrying Doug Wellman, Gary G'Broagfran, and Rev. Eohippus Lovechild (who'll be on next week) went out of control while flying over Flyover Country, and crashed on Stang Ranch in rural Texas, right next to Tarzan's Radio Station! What could we do but activate The Third Microphone and call Lonesome Cowboy Dave? So what you get here -- and it is truly unique -- is, first, Gary ALL BY HIMSELF because Wellman and Stang abandoned him to the mix board (this is actually the funniest part of the show), and then the first and only known interaction between THE Puzzling Evidence and THE Lonesome Cowboy Dave... PLUS GARY!! The Dr. Hal part of The Puzzling Evidence Show, and the Philo Drummond part, have jammed with Dave plenty of times before, but wait'll you hear the ping-ponging bounce-back in the sandbox of the Dave AND the Puzz! There's also some great old new "media barrage" by Cool Hand Chris (using lots of ancient SubG stuff) and a tune from The Rudy Schwartz Project's elder album, "Salmon Dave." And: LeMur! |

Hour of Slack #1670 - "Bob," God, Money and Drugs Rerun of #843 (2002) 59:28 Rerun of #843 (2002). We had to do our taxes, which are more complicated for this church than for most, so we're again presenting an especially good rerun -- at least, the label on the master had a scrawl on it in Stangwriting saying "Good one!" We know from the log however (seen at subgenius.com) that it has a fine Pater Nostril collage from devivals and other things, music by Saint N and Hellena Handbasket, lots of clips from good old Media Barrage Tape #5 (1982), LeMur, Nu-Monet, and Artemia Salina collages, much best live ESO Swamp Radio with Dave, Chas, StangDoe and callers, Puzzling Evidence, a Glassmadness classic "Bob" hymn, and even RastaBillyBob and "Zeeza." This episode is partly a fundraiser show. Some SubGeniuses are currently Slackless. We can help because in some dim way, we actually are a kind of a, well, er, "church." There's some wonderful musical and bulldada weirdness at the beginning by our old buds Fernandinande Le Mur and The Rudy Schwartz Project, and then some Media Barrage by Cool Hand Chris. There's a killer segment of Podcrust from last 20X-Day Drill, recorded in the wee hours of July 5 by host Rev. Anna Maul, with guests Rev. Benard and Rev. Redacted. Then we call Lonesome Cowboy Dave in Ashtabula, Ohio, from the MegaFisTemple Lodge in Glen Rose, Texas, and wildness ensues. There's even a discussion about wildness in general. Here's how you can help: |

It's a good time for reruns, and this is one of our favorites, from the days when Hour of Slack merged with Chas Smith's ESO Swamp Radio on WCSB. Lonesome Cowboy Dave is razzed and tortured by Stang (and defended by Wei) while Chas plays his ass off on several synthesizers. (Two songs spontaneously generate themselves.) This episode is particularly skewed towards paleontology and paleoanthropology, because Stang and Wei had visited the Cleveland Natural History Museum earlier in the day. The museum actually did display the jawbone of a Yeti, incidentally, and the Dobsonfly is a real insect. One excellent section of this episode is the beautifully written "SubGenius Science: Unified Theory of Slack" by Joshua Scott Hotchkin, which Stang reads even though he disagrees with almost every sentence. There's a wonderful new instrumental by The Bishop called "Onward Slackful Soldiers," and NEW PR Gnus! The rest is a Lonesome Cowboy Dave call-in that dashes all over the harsh terrain, ruining the pads on its paws, later making it painful to get to the Soiling Area where the show can urinate. Yes, it's a fairly weird episode. Order Lonesome Cowboy Dave's novel NEIGHBOR WORLD and/or THE BOOK OF THE SUBGENIUS (signed): http://www.subgenius.com/scatalog/books.htm |

Thanks to Rev. Argus Faux for recording, somehow, the 8 hours of "radio" that happened at 20X-Day starting just before midnight, July 4, "2017," and ending about the time the world was supposed to end. It's all on an MP3 file that is EIGHT HOURS LONG, called "Suboxene Bloodstream Podcrust 3_01." The LAST four hours of it seems to be playbacks of weird edited canned SubGenius audio edits, but the first four hours feature that smooth talker Rev. Anna Maul and a rotating roster of "co-hosts" such as Rev. peas, Dr. Shoggoth and especially Rev. Fanboy (her most coherent co-host by far). The section we have started working with here is the first half of Hour Two. We have removed a few stretches of truly inside jokes, but otherwise it's unmolested. This episode also includes music by The Rudy Schwartz Project, Rev. Jimmy Ryan, Lothar and the Hand People, and The Rainmakers, and an intro barrage by Rev. Cool Hand Chris. Stang also explains his little sister's new vocabulary words for the various feathers on a dog, and reads some interesting sections from a National Geographic article about alcohol and human evolution, with background music by Shpongle. |

THIS EPISODE IS TOTALLY INEBRIATED! We weren't, NECESSARILY, when we assembled this show in August of the so-called year "2003," but the episode itself is WAY high. The mad audio mutator, Mr. Fernandinande LeMur, was on a real tear then, as were we of the ESO Swamp Radio Show on WCSB in Cleveland. That was Prof. Chas Smith's show, which became the aptly named Brain Rot Radio Theater during the sections with Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Rev. Stang. and Princess Wei. Other arteests represented include DJ Pooh and Mistah Grimm, Lump5, Phineas Narco, Puzzling Evidence Show with Philo Drummond and Dr. Hal, Elvis Hitler, NOFX, Heart Ignition, CD Truth, The Streets, and "jarto." All in all this is one of our nuttier shows. One might be hard pressed to see how this material intersects with a sober subject like "Bob" Dobbs and the Church of the SubGenius. On Feb. 24, "2018," the podcast called Project Archivist had SubGenius Sacred Scribe Rev. Ivan Stang on for a second time as a guest, and this episode of Hour of Slack is just a straight copy of their show, which can be found at projectarchivist.podbean.com |

This is one of the best SubGenius radio show episodes ever made and it's not an Hour of Slack! It's Episode #51 of Rev. Susie the Floozie's "Bob's" Slack Time Funhouse, originally broadcast on WREK-Atalanta in 1994. Susie is the greatest audio collage editor of all time, and this is one of her best mixes. It's got EVERYTHING! In it's ORIGINAL FORM, yet! (You'll see what we mean, take our word for it!) There must be hundreds of separate tracks and cuts, expertly woven together by Susie, and interspersed with her amazingly delivered rants and lots of very rare, very weird music. And all of it INSANELY DOBBS-CENTRIC! |

New media barrages from Cool Hand Chris! A new "Bob" quote! A killer rant by Prof. Pressure (albeit delivered by Rev. Stang)! The Woody Woodpecker theme! A Steppenwolf cover! The horror of "Bob" Dobbs and the terrible secret of the "free Membership Pack." The Fear of the Backside, and what it really means when a person decides that everyone else is a Backside. Lonesome Cowboy Dave's parenting advice! IT'S ALL HERE!

This is like the rerunniest show we ever done run! It was assembled around 2002 like a Frankenstein's monster from our favorite clips, extracted with great care out of the vast hoard of universally favorite SubGenius albums and tapes made since 1980. This one truly preserves, like flies in amber, the old-timers of the Church at their ostensible best in the first two decades of our mighty radio outreach -- before the brain damages and rheumatism set in. It's so dense that we shall just post the log here, below. (NOTE: The broadcast version is only one hour long and has no cussing; this Internet version is almost 80 minutes!)

Typical recent "live" show with atypical music by The Rudy Schwartz Project, The Psycho Skeletons, Lothar and the Hand People, and The Rainmakers; includes a doomful old rant about the Masonic Conspiracies by Stang. Then it's yakdada all the way down. Soviet chimps in the suburbs; goodbad badfilm movies; Stang's strap-on toads; sensitive snowtard bloggers; farting in the sweat lodge; Young KimCarl Jung and Punk Freud; Cicus Apocalypse versus the baby weiners; build the Wall between Heaven and Hell and make Hell pay for it; escapee angels; fossil Devil Toenails; Onan and the Fappers; rampant Rectalism.

There are SubGenius radio shows besides The Hour of Slack. The Puzzling Evidence Show and "Bob's" Slack Time Funhouse have been on air for as long or longer, and there have been other spinoffs that went extinct. But now there is a new, powerful podcast, one that erupted like a pustule out of the Thorazine Urine Podcrust comedy nontroup, called Time For The Show! The latest incarnations have been better recorded and had less cussing than earlier ones, and #102 (Jan. 8, "2018")had Stang as a guest, so for obvious reasons Stang decided to just run that insane thing pretty much as is. You can hear Time for the Show at timeforthewebsite.com OR subgeniuses.com OR hypercubelaboratory.com. Or look at the Hour of Slack Radio section of SubGenius.com. Anyway the purveyors of Time for the Show so far have been Rev. Fidd Chewley, Dr. Argus Faux, and the ever insecure Rev. Peas, all of them heard on recent Hours of Slack on recordings from X-Day Drills. |

Down in the Medicine Shithole! Thanks to the President, we are now free to play, on public airwaves available to children, songs like "Shithole Town" by The Rainmakers! (Actually, we censored the broadcast version; this version is 18 minutes longer than an hour, too!) Most of the show is a good ol' live chat with Lonesome Cowboy Dave, recorded at Tarzan's at Stang Ranch, but (as always) on Sunday night just like a real show. Remastered versions of four songs by The Rudy Schwartz Poject and one by Lothar and the Hand People (!) form the opening twenty minutes but after that it's all about the smell of the fish people, the interchangeability of Trump and shit, shit holes, dingleberries, Trumphole towns, Jimmy Swaggart, Stormy Waters, British pee party tapes, what it's like down in The Medicine Fish Hole, yankin' out fresh expressions, The Master Game, Masonic Illuminati, the judging categories of Pyroflatulation contests.

This Hour of Slack is by necessity and choice a rerun of #411 from Sept. 1993, which was requested by a long-time listener, and when we checked it out we could hear why. It's REALLY unusual and features some excellent rants by the then-high-schooler named Reverend Gobi, who had a SubGenius show at her high school radio station. They're a real blast of fresh air from the ancient past. Order Lonesome Cowboy Dave's novel NEIGHBOR WORLD and/or THE BOOK OF THE SUBGENUS (signed): http://www.subgenius.com/scatalog/books.htm |

Simple! The first half is the last last half hour of the last Radio Synaesthesia show of 2017 on WCSB, with Stang and Doe joining by phone with a big gang of WCSB Subs at the station to ring in whatever new year this actually is: host Dr. Sinister and numerous other comedians, DJs, ex-DJs, and ex-cons. The only non-Stang SubGenius in the Glen Rose area, Dr. Sinsomniac, does a great call-in too. The second half is part of a major new (well, maybe old, but mostly new to us) "media barrage" style collage by Cool Hand Chris aka Rev. Christian Blatter, a highlight of which is the Star Wars saga done rap-style.
