((CLEAN FOR RADIO)) "Nobody's biography has a happy ending!" -- the late Dr. K'taden Legume This one's heavy on the Puzzling Evidence, an unusual episode from 2012 without Dr. Hal but with Rev. Stang and Dr. Philo Drummond. Rev. Phineas Narco joins by phone. Also: ESO Swamp Radio in the muddy, muddy flesh, The Firesign Theatre from Dope Humor of the Seventies, The Rudy Schwartz Project's Sunshine Supershits, Captain Beefheart, The Psycho Skeletons and Tenacious D. Those were the days. The days of old. Of old people and old Puzzling Evidence tapes. |

((CLEAN FOR RADIO)) An all-obscure-star cast! Rev. Bleepo Abernathy, Prof. Chas Smith, Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Rev. Shining Path of Least Resistance, Phineas Narco, Dr. Philo Drummond and Kaosmic MamaKat, caller Taxi Bob, Bohandas (!!), The Firesign Theatre, Captain Beefheart, Paul Mavrides, Dr. Legume, Rev. Penn Jillette, Papa Joe Mama, even Rev. Funnyname! The highlight is probably the report from Rev. Shining Path of Least Resistance to Puzzling Evidence Show on his surreal visit to North Korea. Rev. Stang reads a poem by Oliver Wendell Holmes and reveals the new Revelations of Rev. Xenofact. He also reads an angry letter from an ex-fan. |

((RADIO SAFE VERSION)) All the music in this episode is from Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band, and the album Doc at the Radar Station, except the very last song and one singing commercial by The Firesign Theater. There is a wise poem by Onan Canobite. All the rest of this episode is taken from The SubGenius Foundation's 2001 collection of best clips from ESO Swamp Radio (WCSB-Cleveland), the great show of the late Chas Smith, on which Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Stang, Princess Wei and Bleepo Abernathy were honored to be regulars. If regulars is the correct term. Probably not. HOUR OF SLACKhttp://subgenius.com/ts/hos.html |

Or is it the lighter side of The Dark? Either way, this is another SubGenius "Silver Age" collection, although there's a brand new rant-song by new contributor Rev. Trevor B. (No relation.) Killer rare clips from The Firesign Theatre, Puzzling Evidence, ESO Swamp Radio, and the SubGenius documentary movie (which is now free on Amazon Prime and YouTube). The Wei-Stang Clan was hoping to do a new "live" show this week, but two abandoned puppy dogs suddenly showed up on our doorstep, and they've been keeping everybody extra busy with their funny cavorting and pooping. The boy pup is named Yeti and the girl pup is Chupacabra. We think they are mostly German Shepherd so we reckon they will be large. The cats, however, are NOT amused. ((Whole show is CLEAN for radio.)) |
