Hour of Slack #1498 - THE EVILS OF PSEX

We're on our annual Krampusmas SubGenius Winter Trip, so until we return it's reruns all the way down. In fact it's five consecutive shows from October-November 2005. This particular disgusting rerun is tainted by stretches of Dr. Philo Drummond and Pope Sternodox in a frank discussion about Face Fucking Bats from an even more ancient Hour of Slack. It's also especially Norelian and Preffish. Thanks to Rev. Jacques Petee for the movie clips.

Hour of Slack #1497 - SubGenius Ultimate Xistlessnessmess Mix Rerun Special

What are the holidays without reruns? This is the hoary old annual traditional Xmas Re-Rerun of #867 (and 921 and 1026, 1077, 1129, 1236, 1338, etc.), which was itself a condensation of some ancient year's 3-show "Best of Xmas Sickness" compilation, which were themselves the concentrated best-of from 15 years' worth of previous Xmas SubGenius and other Xmas weirdo collections. Includes over 66 separate tracks/songs/bits! And no, not one bit has been changed in all these years. We are ON XISTLESSNESSMESS VACATION from Hour of Slack!

Hour of Slack #1496 - Stang's Complete Sermon at Starwood Festival 2014

Starwood Festival lets Rev. Ivan Stang motormouth for an hour straight every year, and this time we didn't chop up the recording. Aside from the LeMur titles it's all Stang's voice, so consider yourself forewarned. First, for the newbs, "SubGenius 101" is delivered (and most can just fast-forward through that). Then Stang reads Rev. Baby Bear's written rant, "PAY ATTENTION," before rattling on off the top of his head about The Conspiracy, stupid racist rednecks, things that were invented by Africans (such as walking upright and tool using), and climate change. Staunch conservatives may want to skip past this section also. The Sacred Scribe then delivers a short tribute to Starwood and its late and truly great co-founder Jeff Rosenbaum (St. Stymie deBergerac to Subs). Stang brags to the pagans about how he tricked the SubGeniuses into getting off their butts and entering the Wisteria woods at X-Day, then bellows out yet another rant originally written by Rev. Baby Bear. The sermon ends in the very nick of time.

Hour of Slack #1495 - Ask Dr. Hal (17X-day)

Aside from the LeMur featurettes, this is all one big uncut recording of the live Ask Dr. Hal Show held at Wisteria's Caffeina's Café during 17X-Day (later on July 5, the day the world was supposed to end, #$#@%@Q&&^!!). The mighty uberbrain of Dr. Hal provided answers to many questions burning in the hearts of the attendees, including: How much Ku could a Ku Klux Kan? Does Godzilla poop in the woods? Is that 'Frop in that Pipe? What do SubGeniuses find attractive in other SubGenii? Is there a Dorian Gray "Bob" picture? Where did Time go? Why are Terror Birds gone? Could this be "IT?" Can one recycle a placenta? Can digital videos be called "films"? Dr. Hal also recites (from memory!) two poems, including "Lament" by Dylan Thomas.

Hour of Slack #1494.5 XXX - More Internet-Only XXX at 17X-Day

These aren't all foul and filthy like the previous XXX release; some of these aren't suitable for broadcast radio simply because they are TRUE. Or, just simply too weird. Rev. Max Darqcpaw, Pisces, Rev. Wilhelm Stahlhelm, and Rev. Spike (all from 17X-Day), Sin music by Reagan's Polyp, a pee break narrated by Rev. Angry Larry (on guitar), clips previously censored from Stang's 2013 Starwood sermon, involving Face Fucking Bats; songs by 6 Fisted Tales and Munky Hyv, and finally Rev. "Suds" delivers a pretty darned serious rant.

Hour of Slack #1494 - Roach Crap Steaks (Live 2014-11-30)

A regular ol' show recorded Nov. 30 at the WCSB station. The first half is a mixed bag of nuts, with new LeMur collages plus a new ear-rattling segment from Rev. Du8, "Steaming Sack of Slack;" fine rants by Papa Joe Mama and G. Gordon Gordon; a mixdown of the movie Jesus Camp, by cuttlefish; carny barker Nate Eagle, and music by The Large (who SINGS!), ESO and Andrew the Impaled. Then it's Lonesome Cowboy Dave and StangDoe all the way down, and down, and down. (Stangor does not appear this time.) The subject matter is all over the place. Stang gets pissed off at the 98 percenters and the prophecy regarding bugs as food is explored, as is the mysterious New Yet Older PHOTO Dobbshead. Strange letters from The Large are read. Background music is new from The Psycho Skeletons and The Large.

Hour of Slack #1493.5 XXX - Internet-Only XXX at 17X-Day

Safe for Work -- if you work in a whorehouse, on a ship or at The SubGenius Foundation. Otherwise, NSFW! Every few months we stack up enough truly FOUL rants and songs to fill an hour that can NEVER be played on broadcast radio. Most of this one comes from ranters and bands at 17X-Day: 6-Fisted Tails, Rev. Teeters La Verge, Rev. McFachfas (read by Stang), Priestess Pisces, Rev. Eggplant, Rev. Rachel Wierdagain, Dr. G. Gordon Gordon, Evolution Control Committee, Rev. Susie the Floozie, and more -- with THREE Brags of Various SubGeniuses in it, including the original. Also: Several rank songs by the great band Reagan's Polyp, which has re-released their greatest "hits." Plus: Phineas Narco as Elvis! Lemur's least palatable collages are also included as seasoning. Coming soon: #1494.5 XXX with even more of this childishly naughty material -- "THE KIND U LIKE!"

Hour of Slack #1493 - MONSTER HUNT 17X-Day

This episode will blow the top off the SubGenius Church. The suspenseful hunt for the mysterious "Monster of Wisteria" climaxes in a revelation that may be too much for the staunchest SubGenius to accept. Where will the Church go from here? How can we just pretend it didn't happen? What would "Bob" do? You won't believe your ears, yet this explosive documentary (weeks in the editing) will shake you to your very core! The biggest question: Who, or WHAT, is now in control of the Church of the SubGenius?

HA HA! STANGOR HERE! Now you hear how Stangor TRICK Little Weak Glasses Man Stang into hunting monster in woods -- Stangor even trick him into tricking all OTHER soft white fat SubGenius boys and girls into hunting monster in woods TOO -- wearing silly fake hunter armor! HA HA! Stangor play YOUR world and world of Bob Pipe Man like GAME! -- like silly game.

Hour of Slack #1491 A - 7 a.m., July 5, ???? - Awaiting the Rupture at Wisteria

This episode takes you into the deranged and possibly deranging world of actual SubGenius life, up close and personal -- just like actually being at an X-Day Drill, only indoors and without the suffering! It is entirely composed of location recordings from July 5, 17X-Day at Wisteria, interspersing documentary audio from the tragic 7 a.m. gathering with a live stage Hour of Slack with Dr. Hal, Phat ManDee, Stang and others. (This required extensive editing - especially the "clean" version for broadcast stations!) The real co-star -- or perhaps super-villain -- of the morning gathering to meet the Saucers was Dr. Dark, the Church's diabolical Pun-isher General. Rev. Susie the Floozy also makes her usual unforgettable appearance. Also featured: a 6-Fisted Tails of Connie jam, and not only the destruction of a huge organ by the fearsome band Armneji Front, but also an explanation (!) of them by Rev. Susie the Floozy.

Hour of Slack #1491 B - WCSB Radiothon - A Clockwork Pledge Drive

Because this is a WCSB-specific pledge drive show, it won't be sent to the other stations -- it's Internet-only. The show starts with 15 minutes of fabulous but less-heard Hendrix. Stang intros the pledge drive Clockwork Orange-style, and there's a surprisingly serious and informative discussion of that novel later, when Oddy-Knocky Cowboy Dave calls in. Interspersed are glowing promises of the wonders of pledging and all the keen glowing candy-like premiums (including 2 passes to Starwood Festival). The promise of a SubGenius Gold Card for the $50 pledge "draws donations like flies!" Donators are gossiped about and praised. The WCSB history of Houir of Slack is told; much shameful SubG trivia is revealed.

Hour of Slack #1490 B - Radio Synaesthesia with Rev. Baby Bear, StangDoe, Ant Farm Dick Hole

This one won't be sent to the broadcast stations. After Hour of Slack #1490 A, we hung around the WCSB studio for another hour of Dr. Sinister's show Radio Synaesthesia, which allows other callers besides Lonesome Cowboy Dave. The discussion veers all over everything and leaves it all smelling funny. The subjects given the most attention are the movie ANT FARM DICK HOLE and the WCSB Halloween Masquerade Ball, which had taken place the night before. Stang provides some details about the SubGenius connections with both GWAR and Pee Wee Herman. Photos from the WCSB Halloween Masquerade Ball (to which we refer in detail in this show) are at:

and if you backtrack from there you can see this year's NEO Witches Ball and Slackermansion trick-or-treaters.

Hour of Slack #1490 A - Birth, Death, Rev. Baby Bear and The Diffi-Cult

We had a special guest in town, Rev. Baby Bear, and a nice stash of very good music that was screaming to be heard screaming. We played the music first (with some great new collagies by Mr. F. LeMur) and then let our hair down on the air, with some old monster movie music heard faintly in the background. There's some last-minute election humor plus some propaganda by Rev. Ivan "Comrade" Stang. A SubGenius birth and a SubGenius death, both "IRL," are announced; Lonesome Cowboy Dave calls in, and from that point it's secret monkey factories all the way down. Musical bands include: The Amino Acids, Slackmaster Sarcastro, Pilgrim Speakeasy, Marc Friedman and Munky Hyv. See you on the Saucers, Pastor Phister Gaghol.

Hour of Slack #1489 -- Murder at Mysterious Wisteria?

All recorded on location at Wisteria during 17X-Day Drill, and yet it sounds almost like an old murder mystery radio play. If only it were simply some kind of elaborate prank! Just before the sacred nude Bobtism ceremony (heard in all its naked glory), evidence of an apparent murder was discovered at the Bobtismal Pond. But where was the body? After the mangled pet, the couple attacked in their car, the weird footprints, the mole stampede, and other unexplained but increasingly sinister events at 17X-Day Drill, it had become plain that some person or some THING was on the loose and stealing not only Slack but possibly lives. We still have seen no sign of "Rev. Bastard," incidentally!

Hour of Slack #1488b - Synaesthesia with Baby Bear

Nerd-Out at the Bottom of the Nerd Barrel! After Hour of Slack #1488, we stuck around with special guest Rev. Baby Bear and Special Caller Dave for another hour of live radio, kindly lent us by Special Host Dr. Sinister from his Radio Synaesthesia show. It's 52 minutes of pure chatter that we're distributing by Internet only. It is truly a Nerd-Out; comic books and movies are discussed in detail along with many SubGenius Church Secrets and WCSB inside-jokes. Even the Useless Secret Super-Powers of several SubGenii are revealed. WARNING: This show may be somewhat more linear and less confusing than the "average" Hour of Slack. However it is every bit as nerdly.

Hour of Slack #1488a - 17X-Day/DEVO/ Baby Bear (Dual Show)

You could call this a two-hour Hour of Slack. Largely because we had a special guest for Hour of Slack (Rev. Baby Bear, fresh from 14 hours of Ask Dr. Hal and Puzzling Evidence shows), and because Dr. Sinister wandered in early and got on Mic 4, we ended up doing an extra hour of spouting and splavering, eating up the first hour of Radio Synaesthesia after a whole hour of Hour of Slack. I guess we will call this a Dual Show. The first half hour is music and a SubGenius wedding/divorce from 17 X-Day as well as two more DEVO covers from NNBBM Vol. 12. Musicians include The Mutant Mountain Boys, Rev. angry Larry, Andrew the Impaled, Tommy Amoeba, Evolution Control Committee and Dr. Hal. Then the talking on WCSB begins, and bleeds over into the following show, Radio Synaesthesia, which we'll call 1488b or Part Two. Sorry, it's really hard not to make terrible Ebola jokes, references and conspiracy theories in this situation, and we hope God doesn't give us the Ebolas for making sport.

Hour of Slack #1487 - Facebook Vs. Buttbook with Dr. Hal and Rev. Susie

'Twas the Third Day of 17X-Day Drill, second hour upon the stage (at Wisteria's Caffeina's Café) and braving the mics were Dr. Hal, Rev. Susie the Floozie, Princess Wei 'R.' Doe and Rev. Ivan Stang. Topics: Monsters and mattress-sniffers. The Candiru Toad. Giant Tree Lobsters. The History of Skull Island Exploration. Cleavage Amplifiers. Snuckles' remains and the Giant Footprints. Susie Vs. mammals. Susie's Undies. Stang's Gorilla Poem. The Holy Bobjism at the Pond. A Titnotic Chestament to Our Faith. Peckers with Tassles. Church sexism. Facebook vs. Buttbook. Hour of Slack #1486 - 17X-Day "B.O.4" - Grow Your Own Penis

Once again we offer a cross section of best songs and rants from the 17X-Day Drill stage, mixed with some Devo covers from the latest NNBBM compilation: Dr. Hal, Andrew the Impales, Mutant Mountain Boys, Priestess Pisces, Evolution Control Committee, Milnar, Sunflower Saints, Psycho Skeletons, Reagan's Polyp. Dave calls in late, feeling poorly, so we and the listeners "pray" for him. We announce the new SubGenius Bandcamp site and three upcoming devivals or otherwise Sub-centric parties. There is a discussion about the dangers of non-Frop drugs, and a reaction to the news of lab-grown penii. Some dare call it surrealism. We call it Morealism.

Hour of Slack #1485 - 17X-Day "B.O.3"

The first half is another collection of 17X-Day best-of live recordings: rants from Rev. Baby Bear, Stang reading Good Rev. Roger, and Rev. Manx Darqpaw; songs by The Mutant Mountain Boys, Phat ManDee, Multiple Fisted Tails of Connie, and Andrew the Impaled (including a cover of a Tom Lehrer song!). That part of the show is really good. Then it's crazy talk live from WCSB with Lonesome Cowboy Dave attending by phone. And by crazy talk, what we really mean is REALLY crazy talk. Praise "Bob."

Hour of Slack #1484 - Inner Secrets of the Church

This one's solid Spouting from the July 3, "2014" recordings from Wisteria during 17X-Day Drill. And we probably said too much. It's Dr. Hal, Rev. Stang, and Princess Wei, with testimonies from "Suds" Pshaw, Rev. Skull and Pater & Petal Nostril. The corpse of the mysteriously-killed dog "Snuckles" is displayed (albeit not by radio) and the mystery deepens when Pater and Petal deliver their account of an attack on their car while they were in it. Who is the unseen culprit? Some sort of monster? Ol' Sequaw? Dr. Legume or Philo Drummond? Between the speculation on the bizarre Wisteria marauder, many Church secrets -- FORMER secrets, rather -- were accidentally revealed, especially about the real freaks of the Church. One example: "Bob" renews himself by shedding and then eating his own skin. Also: Ren and Stimpy. There're some pretty good Dobbs Sales rants in there too. Lovecraft fans may be especially interested.

Hour of Slack #1483 - A Plain Old Regular Show

Well, we really did it this time -- we did another show. A relatively "normal" show by recent standards, mixing music, collage, PR Gnus, live-on-the-air spouting with the cowboy -- you know, a regular plain old Hour of Slack. (We'll be back to rough-hewn X-Day recordings next week!) There are a few last location reports from Leipzig, Germany by StangDoe, a new Psycho Skeletons tune, and a whole lot of Reagan's Polyp, which, if you don't know, maybe you'd better pick up on it. Also, DEVO COVER TUNES -- just a smattering so far from the latest compilation of such things, the "Not Necessarily Beautiful But Mutated" CD, Volume 10! (Including "Blockhead" done by Rural War Room!) Incidentally, the German-language clips at the beginning are from the first big Captain America movie, but dubbed in German. The Nazi ranting is by The Red Skull. Don't blame us!

Hour of Slack #1482 - On the Loose in Leipzig

We went to Germany! We had a great time! We stayed with Rev. Tatjana and Rev. Buckky in the best-located SubGenius apartment ever! We met The Large! He is large in height, voice and nerve! We saw the town! It has naked ladies and scary babies everywhere! We were horrified by hundreds of tortured Jesus pictures at the art museum! We invented a new language that nobody can understand! After the location recordings of the first half, we got Lonesome Cowboy Dave on the line and he told us about everything we DIDN'T see. And we read Rev. Peas' godawful advice re: how to behave in Germany.

Hour of Slack #1481 - Mass Wisteria

We had a great two weeks in Germany, but our gripping report on that will have to wait until next week. This is the second of two shows from July 2, recorded before a live audience in Caffeina's café at the Wisteria campground, with Dr. Hal, Rev. Baby Bear, Rev. Richard Skull, Princess Wei 'R.' Doe and Rev. Stang. Topics include working for "Bob," bad booze, our perpetual dissatisfaction, The First Church of the Last Laugh, head launchings, Mass Wisteria, Stang's hair, the kinks of "Bob," "Bob's" Favorite Comics and other swag classics, scotch tape-and-FATE-magazine collage technique, the story of Count Jesus, a rant by Fellow Citizen Bork (read by Stang), the Planets of the Apes, "Bob" as a CGI character, The Uncanny Valley of "Bob," Intelligent but Psychopathic Design, the Socialist Social, Obabo the Presiserp of Uninu, Dr. Hal recites a Tolkein poem.

Hour of Slack #1480 - The Search for Snuckles

Dr. Hal, Rev. Baby Bear and Rev. Stang recored this show before a live audience in Caffeina's café at the Wisteria campground, the first of two shows on July 2. The discussion goes all over the place, but especially notable are what we now know to have been the opening salvos in a bloody and tragic mystery that unfolded during the week of the 17X-Day Drill. The disappearance of the obnoxious dog "Snuckles" was only the beginning. Other topics: Genius Vs. SubGenius. "Bob's" second childhood. Slack Altars and Recalcitrant Spouses. Surfing the Luck Plane. Kaspar Hauser. Toilet training with "Bob." Stang's grandchildren are heard for the first time in this episode.

Hour of Slack #1479 - A Flagrant State of Mind

The previous week's live Hour of Slack on WCSB Cleveland was painfully extended for an extra half hour, due to a late DJ; likewise, at 17 X-Day, we had on July 1 recorded a show that, despite being performed in front of a live audience, contained many utterances which for various excellent reasons must be censored TO SAVE YOU. This, then, is a mish-mash of an accidental WCSB live show featuring guest Lonesome Cowboy Dave with a campground-recorded 17X-Day show that was too "inside" for public or pubic consumption. The show recorded at Wisteria featured Dr. Hal and Priestess Pisces along with parasite-host Rev. Ivan Stang. Between the two half-shows, pretty much everything is covered, topic-wise. This show is being released a week early because Stang & Doe are soon taking two weeks off. Way off. If no new shows are posted until Sept. 1, it's because we were already caught up; we've been posting more than one show a week since 17X-Day.

First half is performances from 17X-Day: Andrew the Impaled, The Mutant Mountain Boys, Evolution Control Committee, Phat Man Dee, plus rants by The Good Rev. Roger (read by Stang), Rev. Skull (read by Pisces), Rev. Feit C. Taj and Rev. Rachel Weirdagain. The second half is live at WCSB. Stang reads Rev. Eraazu's BLOG OF THE SUBGENIUS and The Secrets of the Skopts from THE SEXUAL RELATIONS OF MANKIND. Other topics: Lonesome Cowboy Dave's leaking forehead problem. Mean Dallas Barbie Soroity MILFs. A bunch of Sheetzes. Obabo the Presiserp. Back to 17X-Day for the end, with Rev. Scapegoat's rant and more horror of Armneji Front.

We recorded two Hours of Slack (or something like Hours of Slack) every day during the 17X-Day Drill, all with Stang and Dr. Hal, this particular first one also with special guest Priestess Pisces. By the strangest chance, the first hour of recording required ZERO cuts and came to One Hour Exactly. And, it's RELENTLESS! Subjects touched upon: Mole stampede mystery. The superstars at X-Day. The sad case of the Facebook Bob Dobbses. Pisces' Mean Meme. The Church: "Teaching the Unteachable What No One Wants to Know." Monster movie girls and puberty. "STAY OFF THE STRAW." Donkey island. All SubGeniuses are differently fucked up. Sallack vs. Sakkak. Stang the Sacred Nutless Chimp. I lost my virginity at Dr. Dark's Drive-In. Earwigs diapers. Strange sounds, footprints in the woods. Hour of Slack #1476 - Kick-Ass 17X-Day Bands, Ranters

DON'T MISS THIS EPISODE! We wouldn't use a term like "kick-ass" unless we meant it. We got near-perfect recordings of great bands and preachers at X-Day, and here we feature one song from each band plus some of the most pew-peelin' preachin' you'll ever hear. St. Andrew the Impaled's new song "A Saucer Built for One" is the funniest, porniest X-Day singalong since "Take Me Off to Space," and much harder to remember! The Mutant Mountain Boys deliver "Spaceship Bound," Evolution Control Committee mashes Zep and Britney, and Phat ManDee debuts an autiobiographical song, "Hey Fat Chick." There's even a vivid Armneji Front replay and description! The inspirational rants are by Rev. Baby Bear, Priestess Pisces, and St. Andrew the Impaled -- and they will GIG you like a squid. Bonus: TWO parables by Rev. Skull, and lots of live running and gurgling commentary by Stang, Doe, and Lonesome Cowboy Dave.

Dr. Hal, Stang, Doe, and host Dr. Sinister tackle callers in this second half of the June 29 Radio Synaesthesia show, recorded just before leaving Cleveland for 17 X-Day at Wisteria/Starwood. Among the many topics covered: Ant music. Flying Spaghetti Monster and Discordians vs. Boo Hoo Bible & "Bob". Stang's "craydar." Starwood vs. Burning Man. What's wrong with this country. SubGenius vs. SuperGenius. Hal tells exactly why the Porridge Bird lays its eggs in the air. X-Day = 2017 according to G. W. Bush. Lovecraft. Ayn Rand Paul. Moral imperatives. "Sixty's not old!" This is the first of those two hours. With four voices in the studio and three on the phone lines, this sounds almost like a Puzzling Evidence show: DENSE! Subjects discussed include: Plane crash and saucer seating. When girls call in. SubG: Grief Counselors for Humanity. Brain buttocks. Wisterical women. Major Amos Custard. "Cutting the Onions." Readings from Lovecraft trading cards by monsterwax.com. Aspies. UFO sightings by callers. Mentat Vulcan Jedi Stang. The day Dr. Hal met Ivan. Vampire leprechauns. Hex Day is here!

Hour of Slack #1473 - The Day After X-Day

Recorded on July 6 at WCSB in Cleveland immediately after the return of Dr. Hal and Rev. Stang from the 17X-Day Drill at Wisteria. We have decided to release the story of what happened at 17X-Day gradually so as not to traumatize others as we were traumatized, and also to prevent liability problems. We skirt the issue for now for everyone's own good; you'll just have to take our word for it. The mysterious and terrible events are discussed, or rather hinted at, also by Lonesome Cowboy Dave and Dr. Sinister. The show opens with some more carny barker talking by Nate Eagle as well as a weird piece about UFOs by Joe Jeziorski. Nenslo's classic X-Day hymn closes the show.

Hour of Slack #1472 - The Day Before X-Day

Herein we combine the incredible collage work of Rev. Susie the Floozie and a barely more credible live broadcast from WCSB-Cleveland featuring special guest Dr. Hal with Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Dr. Sinister and hosts Stang & Doe, both originally broadcast the weekend before 17X-Day. Rev. the Floozie's tour-de-force took her weeks to edit, whereas the live Cleveland show ate up a mere half hour. Despite the sad punchline -- the world didn't end, obviously -- this pre-X-Day show demonstrates the sweet, trusting faith of the SubGenius Elder Hierarchites that all unbelivers will die. Little did we know how bitterly our glowing hopes would be dashed against the cold, spikey rocks of yet another hard reality. There is supreme irony in the subsequent events, the recordings of which will be heard in upcoming episodes.

Hour of Slack 1471 - Rerun of #882 - WAR Vs. X-Day

We're posting this early because the world ends next week, and we don't want to have to stop right in the middle of the Apocolypse just to mess with distributing this show.

This 2003 episode was one listener's intro to the Church of the SubGenius, and he recently drew our attention to it because he was looking for a copy. We're glad he did because neither the war nor X-Day have changed much, and our 2003 description  remains almost valid: "This is The Greatest Hour of Slack Ever. I know I often say that, but this time it's true for sure. The live ESO shows of the last 3 weeks have been WAR TALK and X-Day Hankerin'. The best in those veins that wasn't TOTALLY stupid, yet was still gut-blowingly hilarious - yet horrifying, considering the subject matter - those clips went into this one. Also, Mister F. Le Mur cranked out noise like he previously cranked out art. I guess Le Mur is now the Slack man's Terry Gilliam to the Slack man's Monty Python, in that he does a lot of the show, yet he's never heard. This show furthermore contains an Artemia Salina chop-up which should get lots of future replay as it's copied and bounced around audio sarcasm collectors. And, the newly Hour of Slacked Hank Flloyd and the Swerving Headlights presents yet ANOTHER great alien abduction C&W ballad." The live parts were recorded at WCSB, Cleveland, for the late Chas Smith's show ESO Swamp Radio. Chas is heard along with Lonesome Cowboy dave, Preincess Wei R. Doe and Rev. Stang.

Hour of Slack #1470 - Nate Eagle, Carny Talker

First part: some Starwood Stangrant, some St. Andrew the Impales X-Day, Papa Joe rant, GGG rant, and clips of antique carny talker NATE EAGLE, thanks to precious recordings relocted by Rev. Taylor Jessen in The Firesign Theatre's vaults! After that, it's a no-holds barred, any-throw take-down with lip wrestlers Stang, Wei and Lonecow. Spock vs. Darth Vader. Stang and Doe's story of Obama's psy-ops, spying on us and Mr. Sister using Google Earth vans, staged accidents, bugs implanted in bugs, robot bird drones. Stop snoring, Sleeple! Invaders from Canadia. Schizophrenic? What's the dif? Abduble Personality. That cult of Isis worshippors in the Mideast -- DAVE DISAPPEARS! Obama cut him off! Fudd 'em if they can't take a joke.

Hour of Slack #1469 -- Praying Is For Sissies

We're using up some of the nifty but heretofore unplayed location recordings made at 16X-Day and Starwood last year. There are parts of Rev. Stang's Starwood 34 sermon -- mostly the parts where he read rants by others (such as Onan Canobite), and some "documentary" material recorded at the giant bonfire. Some funny on-and-offstage moments prompted by the rainstorms of 16X-Day are played, even though they might help keep attendance down. We hear two rants by Dr. G. Gordon Gordon, three Amino Acids tunes and one Psycho "Skeletoon." Then, Lonesome Cowboy Dave calls in, and you can probably guess what happens. IF YOU ARE MENTALLY ILL, THAT IS!

Hour of Slack #1469.5 XXX - Internet-Only XXX-Day Special

NOT SAFE FOR WORK! This one WON'T be on the actual broadcast radio stations. Some rants and songs just don't work when censored, and these are the raw, cuss-filled tracks we've stockpiled from last year's festivals: 16 X-Day, Starwood, and the Pittsburgh devival. Included are bits from the live Hours of Slack recorded at 16X-Day as well as some improv jams by Multiple Fisted Tails of Connie (Pisces on vocals). There's also educational information on Face Fucking Bats and the Giant Dick Eating Spiders of Wisteria. The Rudy Schwartz Project song "Some Heroin Up Your Butt" has been saved just for this episode, along with many clips and collages. You'll enjoy singing along with St. Andrew The Impaled's "Fuck is All You Need." At the end of this 74-minute hour we offer the very weird-sounding complete performances at the Pittsburgh show of both Eric Singer and his Slime-a-tron, and  St. tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE in his first SubGenius performance since the old, old, old days!

Hour of Slack #1468 - Connie's Funny Noise Show on Dave's Ark

This episode starts with a colossal Connie collage by Rev. Susie the Floozie, done back in the old days before people got so suspicious of Mrs. Dobbs. That's 20 minutes of song and dance, and a little killing. The show ends with the end of Susie's "Bob"/Connie show. In between, Stang, Doe & Dave the Lonesome Cowboy go at it. The word "tattoon" is coined. The Koch Brothers and Africanized Killer Deer are discussed, but not together. Dave recounts his punk rock years. We prove that the Duck Dynasty guys are Muslims. There is a very detailed review of the movie "Dead Man." And, there are funny noises!

Hour of Slack #1467 - Rants for Handling Panhandlers

First part is a fine new collection of clips and original songs by The Large, interspersed with Lemur's PR Gnus and Papa Joe Mama's classic sermon on the SubGenius diet. The live part of the show after Lonesome Cowboy Dave calls in is unusually live. Stang, Doe & Dave share various past responses to panhandlers at length (some of which might be helpful advice) but then the yabbering morphs through several other rant-subjects and builds up to some pretty good mini-rants. One might say that this episode features more interesting visuals than most. The background music is from Rudy Schwartz Project, The Psycho Skeletons, and our old buddy, Bootleg Jimi Hendrix.

Hour of Slack #1466 - Are You a Terminator Too?

We couldn't resist comparing classic SubGenius rants with the pompous YouTube rant of spree-shooting Pink Boy Elliot Rodgers. His preaching sucks. Papa Joe Mama's sermon, "Are You a Terminator Too?" was a perfect match. We SubGeniuses will let the aliens or "Bob"," or God, do our dirty work for us, thank you very much. Early in the show is more of Rev. Susie the Floozie's Dobbs-centric collage work and some good old-timey "Bob" hymns. When Lonesome Cowboy Dave calls in the conversation veers all over the place, occasionally returning to the subject of weekly American shooting sprees and conspiracy theories about them. Obama is blamed for pretty much everything. There is a fascinating discussion of Dave's punk youth as well as thrilling details about the old-world ancestries of Dave, Rev. Stang, and iDRMRSR, and the royal treasures they are owed.

Hour of Slack #1465 - Getting Out of the Hospital with "Bob"

The first third of this episode is Part One of a trippy ALL-"BOB" SPECIAL from Rev. Susie the Floozie's show, "Bob's" Slacktime Fun House, originally broadcast on WREK Atlanta. After that we're live in the WCSB studio. Dave calls in and everything goes to Hell, because the main subject matter ended up being the recent injuries and illnesses that seem lately to have been hitting damn near everyone we know. Perhaps we should announce that listening to The Hour of Slack brings bad luck. On the other hand it might simply be LACK OF FAITH IN "BOB," although we kinda doubt that. Anyway, lucky for us, misery is apparently funny.

Hour of Slack #1464 - A Pineapple Corer for Your Head

We again harvest the classic rants of Papa Joe Mama and the new album from The Rudy Schwartz Project (of which the outgoing WCSB show host asked, "Is that Zappa?"). We also hear some old ESO Radio from when StangDoe and LCD had younger-sounding voices, and some old Puzzling Evidence. But then Lonesome Cowboy Dave calls in and, well, there's just no way to summarize that conversation. It truly went all the hell over the place.

Hour of Slack #1463 - Headlines + Rudy Schwartz Project

Apparently one obese phone repair guy with the crack of his ass showing is more powerful than a vast army of vindictive spirit-world prank-callers. (A jealous kook informed us that WCSB's phone problems of last month were caused by his imaginary spirit-buddies' anger at us.) "Don't EVER mess with the blue collar ass crack!!" -- Rev. Heathen. Anyway, we play another great Papa Joe Mama sermon, three more brand new songs from The Rudy Schwartz Project, a little Puzzling Evidence, and then the rest of the show is the Stang-Doe-LCD Jabber Machine. Stang recites many funny headlines off the site rawstory.com, which specializes in gathering examples of poebucker dumbassitude from Christian TV preachers, extremist political "pundits" and other folks wearing Mockery Bull's Eyes on their foreheads. About half of the dumbassery comes from Fox "news" show hosts and panels. We should probably be ashamed of ourselves, because, well, it's TOO EASY. "These gags write themselves."

Hour of Slack #1462 - Rudy Schwartz Project Vs. Papa Joe Mama

The new Rudy Schwartz Project album "Winter Dance of the Koala Sperm Harvest" is stupefyingly great. One might even venture to declare it "awesome, totes." You'll undergo severe gut blowout when you hear "Fuck the Guy from the N.S.A.," and then the rest of your organs will leap out of your body when you hear "Happy Smiling Nipple Boy." Interspersed with the first 5 songs on the new album are very ancient, true-to-"Bob," back-to-the-Pamphlet sermons by the all-star SubGenius preacher, Father Joe Mama. And we delve even deeper into the Church archives with songs from the cassette tape album of the 1980s, ""Bob's" Earwax," especially the works of Rev. G. Don Trubey (of The Dancing Cigarettes). Also: The Psycho Skeletons (two new instrumentals) and the ever-hardened Mr. F. LeMur.

Hour of Slack #1461 - Monster Sclub High

This special episode is an exposé of weirdo subversion planted in seemingly harmless Pink Conspiracy programming for young girls. Using a collage extravaganza, Rev. Stang illustrates and over-analyzes the peculiar similarities of certain odd toy franchises, especially Monster High, to the Church of the SubGenius. The monster-SubGenius connection is thoroughly discussed also in clips from Puzzling Evidence, X-Day Drills and the Ask Dr. Hal show. Even Billy Bob Thornton tells of his monster fandom experiences (which happen to echo those of Dr. Hal and Rev. Stang). Three marvelous children's disco monster songs from movies plus Lonesome Cowboy Dave's "Monster Club" provide a considerable change of pace from our, er, "usual" musical selections.

Hour of Slack #1460 - New Old SubGenius Meets Old Young SubGenius

This is another of those crazy episodes that's part old live stuff that sounds new, part new music, and part new versions of old music. And part a brand new interview with old Rev. Stang by old non-SubGeniuses. The Mama Kangaroo ladies are back singing Captain Beefheart songs, The Psycho Skeletons (all of them!) present two new skelpieces, and LeMur cuts up. Collages by Norel Pref are probably also imbedded in the 2005 WCSB yaks with Stang, Dave n' Doe. Also included are excerpts of Rev. Stang being interviewed very recently by two local AM talk radio hosts who broadcast from a shopping mall. Stang's real purpose in going was to get the testimony of one of those hosts (named David Lynch, believe it or not), who was witness to a long-ago Cleveland seminar for cops on how to identify gang signs -- at which the Dobbshead was shown as an example of a "Satanic gang symbol." Praise "Bob."

Hour of Slack #1459 - A Monster High

(Live 2014-4-6) Roping "LoneCow Dave" into the station by phone has been tricky lately, so we spent half of this episode replaying some 2005 recordings made when Dave was actually in the WCSB studio. These sections, which we found on a special disc while cleaning, are very rantful although they were originally selected specifically for Wei's Mom to hear, ten years ago. Suddenly, in the middle of the show, Stang, Doe and Dave age 10 years and (among other things) struggle with the issue of racism among monsters -- especially the monsters of a con-for-kids franchise called Monster High. (It attracted our attention for the obvious reasons: girls and monsters.) The "Bob"-"Oyeh" song at the very end is by Rev. Circle Maker.

Hour of Slack #1458 - Funny Hendrix and Woman Beefhearts

Jimi Hendrix could be a real funny guy, and this show is dedicated to FUNNY HENDRIX. And, unless you're a victim of Hendrixmania, you probably haven't heard these versions of these songs. We even have Hendrix PREACHING. Our man in Dobbstown, Dr. G. Gordon Gordon, found a huge mess of rare Hendrix in "Bob's" vaults, recordings unheard since 1970 -- these are the funniest and/or most surrealistic. When Lonesome Cowboy Dave called in, The Conspiracy broke the phone bank, so we had to make comedy routines about our technical impediments again. So we played more Rare Funny Hendrix and three more songs from "Mama Kangaroo: Philly Women Sing Captain Beefheart."

Hour of Slack #1457 - Stang's Tree-Raping Problem

Stang got into one of his fits from reading the comments that follow Yahoo news articles, and interrupted the flow of Captain Beefheart songs covered by women, and collages by Xister, to once again read the actual words of Yahoo Yay-Hoos in various doofus accents. Luckily, Lonesome Cowboy Dave called in, getting Stang's mind off the death of Death Valley and back onto a bunch of insane nonsense. Also discussed: Velikovsky. Ancient Giants of Ohio. The secret SubGenius Nude Selfies facebook pages. "The culture of poverty" among rural whites. God Hates FAQs but invented math. Eating feet on Friday; consuming soles. Climate Science according to the Yay-Hoos of Yahoo.

Hour of Slack #1456 - The Secret of Flight 370

Except for some nifty collages from Rev. Xister of Minute of Slack, this is a mostly live episode from WCSB Cleveland. Stang outlines his theory about the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 (still unexplained at this writing). Lonesome Cowboy Dave calls in and the usual incredibly convoluted discussion ensues. This one hinges on the question of whether we can be sure we have any more autonomous existence than do the characters in our video games and cartoons. Neal Stephenson gets mashed up with Robert Louis Stephenson. Both Dave's phone line and the station's had intermittent, unexplained, randomly occuring technical problems in the form of extra noise, which we of course tried to incorporate into the show using various ruses and sleights of tongue. Eventually Dr. Sinister walked in and joined us so things almost started to make a little sense just before the show ended with the Devo song, "Fountain of Filth".

Hour of Slack #1455 - Lonesome Cowboy Dave In Space

Back in 1994, Hour of Slack originated in Dallas, but we used a lot of material recorded whenever Rev. Stang visited Cleveland and sat in on the late Chas Smith's show, "ESO Radio/Brain Rot Theater" on WCSB. One of the best chunks of one of the best of those shows, "Lonesome Cowboy Dave in Space," comprises the majority of this episode. Many listeners thought it was SCRIPTED! The only thing that was scripted however was the intro to the ESO show tapes, detailing the truly dire deadlines and circumstances of The SubGenius Foundation in late 1994. (We had two weeks to finish our half-finished book REVELATION X, and we had just moved (most unfortunately, as it turned out) from our funky old house into a brand new custom home.) Also in the show is music from Nenslo, The Rudy Schwartz Project and Doktorz 4 "Bob".

Hour of Slack #1454 - Snip the Evil Wire or the Good Wire?

The original plan was to worship various guitar players of the Church of the SubGenius, but Stang's attention was snagged just before leaving for the station by something else: not the Academy Awards, which were happening that night, but the intensely jealous comments from "the peanut gallery" following a Yahoo news article about the red carpet getting rained on. Amazing how the most trivial subject matter still leads inexorably to vehement dissertations about the evils of the Negro President and climate science. So, Stang & Doe read the Yayhoos of Yahoo again. Despite this distraction, Time Control is discussed at length with Lonesome Cowboy Dave, along with every other damn thing, especially the Conspiracy. The episode opens however with a kick-ass major collage by The Large plus some great LeMur bits and PR Gnus. Musical guests: The Psycho Skeletons and The Rainmakers. The background music for the live yakking is a great jam recorded at 9X-Day Drill involving The Amino Acids, Lonesome Cowboy Dave and Princess Wei.

Hour of Slack #1453 - See You on the Saucers, Rev. Bob Casale

Contains VERY RARE DEVO. It's a bummer to think that I, Stang, wasn't prompted to discover just how many unheard DEVO songs I had preserved in the Bulldada Time Control lab until a member of the band suddenly and unexpectedly died -- a stern reminder that X-Day could come when you least expect it. Therefore: SLACK OFF AS IF YOUR VERY LIFE DEPENDS ON IT! The other members of DEVO have always been supportive of the Church but Bob 2 and his wife Lisa were the only ones who actually ponied up the (then) $30 for Ordainment. Also he was a swell guy in person. All of the music in this episode is by DEVO and most of it gets heard only by the most devout DEVOtees -- many of whom we see every year at the DEVOtionals in Cleveland, and whence come our copies of some of this swell material. Thanks especially to Rev. Toth Wilder for extreme rarities.

Hour of Slack #1452 - Evil Susie's Yard Sale of Secrets

We proudly present a recent episode of "Bob's" Slack Time Funhouse: a true masterpiece by Rev. susie the Floozie, originally broadcast on WREK Atlanta. As she describes it:

"You know, people sometimes see me as being little more than a pair of jiggling boobs--but if they'd look up, they'd see a mirror image of the same seething bicameral action going on under my beehive hairdo, complete with brain cleavage to match! Personally speaking, I had a bit of a psychotic break...and with two years of failure and withdrawal reaching a boiling point, the only therapy I have is to closet myself up working on the FUNHOUSE. But oh, this Bataan Death March of an episode was precisely the wrong kind of show for someone whose personality was fracturing into madness to immerse herself in--because the ingredients of this show are precisely that, broken mirror-shards of me. For once, I feel appropriate describing this episode as being "totally insane"--because this excursion truly is the product of my absolute blithering insanity.

"In this episode, I use my own evil Recombinant Comedy(tm) devices on myself, blasting my own words into rubble and reassembling them into a scenario that takes its own form....but this time I'm not in the driver's seat. From the very start, Evil Susie started taking the plot into wildly apeshit left-field areas, leaving me feeling as if I were being dragged along behind a fucking rampaging tank. But what a goddamned ride she took me on! The soundcollaged bits began to form into madly veering fractals that twisted and pretzeled upon themselves, resulting in unforeseeable madness that gobsmacked even me. Flying dogs! Rump roast horrors! Dead sixth graders! As the hemispheres of my brain erupted in all-out hammer-and-tongs warfare, turning the simple premise of the Flooze and Evil Susie spending some idle time together into an orgy of shortsighted murderous mayhem, I found myself gasping with helpless laughter to the point of hiccups.

"So yeah...I suggest you strap yourself in good and tight for this dizzyingly gutsplitting romp, because tonight you will be pissing yourself in hilarious ecstasy as the two Susies expose shocking secrets, sidesplitting shames, and jawdropping passions!"

Hour of Slack #1450 - Sacred Hernia & Kidney Stone Special - Live "2014"-2-2

I guess it wasn't that horrible of a show after all. Driving home afterwards I (Stang) always remember them being horrible, especially this one, but, playing it back, I can't tell the difference anyway. Sacred or else funny songs are interspersed with live blabbertiyak at the WCSB Cleveland studio, our second favorite place to be when it's zero degrees below zero outside. Starts with collages by Dances With Rockets and Champion Jack Codini, and music by Mayan Ruins, Rev. Phineas Narco, Saint N and Helena Handbasket, The King, and Panting Antics. Somewhere in there is also a pretty gross (yet "clean"!) monolog by the great fat Harry White. Crop circles are discussed, as are the SubGenius Movie, the New Age vs. The Old Age, and some guy named "Bob."

Hour of Slack #1449 - An Orange Colored Sky - Wake Up, Sleeple! - Live "2014"-1-26

The first half is newly contributed songs, music, and collages, and the second half is a weird live session with Lonesome Cowboy Dave calling in. Music by Cult of Zir and The Psycho Skeletons provide a suitably spooky "rug" which sometimes becomes a "ceiling" for the live talk with Stang, Dave & Wei as they discuss a little bit of everything. Music in the first half includes both a rock song and a cover of a Rudy Schwartz Project instrumental by Purple Johnson Blimp Situation. Also, we have songs on a SubGeniusly theme by Del the Funkier Homo Sapien and by The Rainmakers (from a recent live concert DVD). Some collages are by LeMur but there are many new ones by Rev. Xister including a Papa Joe Mama rant remix.

Rev. Xister (of Ministry of Slack infamy) sent us a massive collection of collages and mashes and froptunes, and the shortest of those form the first 15 minutes, and the end, of this show. In between, well, Lonesome Cowboy Dave called in and it's groin carrions all the way down after that. Hour of Slack #1447 - DEVO COVER BANDS (Rerun of #753)

This is a rerun of a show from 2000, inspired by the then-recent first DEVOtional Day of Atonement event, held in Akron that year. Many rare DEVO clips are featured along with interesting (to say the least) covers of their work. A classic ESO radio show is strung throughout, and a Puzzling Evidence show from The Day is likewise scavenged, as is a Cleveland devival. Some songs come from a compilation by blnkrboy and some come from Mike Water's collection of DEVO covers.

Hour of Slack #1446 - Drugs Special Pt. 2 (Rerun of #52)

All except Lil's "So This is Frop" and the ESO sequence are from Hour of Slack #52 & 53, the Anti-Anti-Drug Specials, from 1986. This pro-'Frop follow-up to the previous week's Anti-Anti-Drug Special has a similar cast of dozens of the early main SubGenius Doktors such as Rev. Bleepo Abernathy, G. Gordon Gordon, Mark Mothersbaugh, The Swinging Love Corpses and DK Jones. Stang reads from THE BOOK OF THE SUBGENIUS (this was not long after it was published!) Rare, hideous recordings from an actual Dokstock (the Church's "acid tests") are included as examples of just HOW far it can go.

Hour of Slack #1445 - Drugs Special Pt. 1 (Rerun of #51)

A legendary 1986 episode! Seriously. For some reason, at least three major-league SubGenius Doktors have told us that the single thing that initially got them seriously interested in The Church of the SubGenius was this specific episode (or maybe its follow-up, which we'll play next week). It evidently hit a number of listeners where they live. The subject was drugs, as well as the War on Them and how it has affected the SubGenius Race. It has a cast of hundreds. There are some scathing sermons interspersed with amazing Media Barrage tracks by Byron Werner, Puzzling Evidence and others, and great D.K. Jones music. The mix was slightly altered when we reran it as #788.
